I've been using the Messenger app and just about every GIF I try to send will not go through. Downloaded ChompSMS to give it a try. I know this due to the size of the GIF. Are there any third party apps that will resize the GIF for you like the Iphone will?

Hangouts. Never have a problem with Hangouts. I think it may compress them as necessary too.

I wish hangouts would just replace the normal texting app. The read receipts are a plus too.

The only reason I won't change to android. They fix their texting issue and I'll gladly switch. Make fun of apple all you want, but they nailed it on iMessages.

I'm a big fan of Textra. I have to make sure the settings have MMS size limit at 1mb or less though, in order for it to go through.

for starters: posting links from twitter/facebook/youtube/images should show the linked content, not the URL

If that's your only complaint then I can live with it. Which would you rather - receiving a video from someone that is the size of a dime and pixelated or your YouTube content showing up in a message that you will be clicking either way?

Pixilated videos from an iPhone user is annoying. They can send to each other because it is going through a proprietary network via iMessage which is basically fast email. When they send a video to non iphone users it goes via MMS and that network can only handle certain size. So it is drastically reduced. I have to tell my wife to email me videos instead of texting them.

You're giving either/or options when it doesn't have to be either/or at all. I'd rather no blind links and HQ video.

Not to mention that when you click a youtube link it might kick you to Safari where it then says "Open in YouTube App? Yes/No", then kicks you to the youtube app where you have to hit play. Wouldn't it be great if YouTube just came up as an extension that played right in the messages app and didn't boot you from 2 apps consecutively? There are also links to pics & gifs that you wouldn't have to touch at all, just show the pic.
