Microsoft is likely to announce that its Windows 10 devices (smartphones, tablets and PC) will be able to run Android apps, if long-time Microsoft watcher Paul Thurrott is to be believed.

The Redmond giant is expected to confirm the news at its Build developer conference that kicks off Wednesday in San Francisco.

Interesting strategy. The author has some good points on how this isn't a good move. This might just make Windows apps obsolete if true. I think it's a good move for the end user though.

"For developers who have invested a lifetime of learning and mastering Microsoft's platforms, Android compatibility is a slap in the face. This sends the message that they have wasted their time and that it's time to move on to a more successful platform since, after all, the apps you create for Android will now work on Android and Windows/Windows Phone. This completely usurps the presumed value of universal apps, which I assume Microsoft will also spend a lot of time promoting this week. It will not sit well with the developers who go to Build," notes Thurrott.

Wow, what a little bitch.

I wonder how upset he was when the conference basically exploded in excitement when they announced Android and iOS support coming to Windows. Anyone who is upset over this has no basis in reality. That's like someone announcing the secret to immortality and saying it's a bad move since it'll upset everyone because others have died in the past.

what a bitch.

I think he is just shocked Softie did something that makes them relevant again.

The only real complaint about Lumia phones was the lack of Apps. This will obliterate that concern very fast IF IF IF this actually works as well as promised.
