I started to get this on iPad about a month ago every once in a while, then it got to where sometimes it would do it every few minutes. I'd go to settings, Safari, clear stuff. That helped for a few minutes, but problem would return, sometimes one after the other, then say "website has crashed". I had not done the latest 8 something update yet, so I did that, hoping it would take care of, it didn't. Now I have an 9 update waiting, don't know what to do about that either?
Anyway, I googled issue and the only thing that remotely said anything about fixing it is to do complete reset by holding home button and power button and letting it shut down. I did that, it also helped short term, but, not for long.

Anybody familiar with this issue?

Be gentle please, old, and severely non technical.

Eta: doing it so bad now, took forever for me to read and check this post!

My iPhone has been ok.. But, iPad is getting close to be chunked, unbelievably frustrating. Now sometimes it may go 5 or 6 times in a row saying and doing that.

It baffles me. iOS 1-8 never had this happen, iOS 9 drops and decides to say "frick you!"

Hard to say. Browsers and websites are extremely complex, but it probably boils down to the way Safari is trying to handle long-running or misbehaving scripts on webpages. I would just keep using Chrome for a while and hope it doesn't start having problems, too. Also keep an eye out for updates for Safari that may fix the problem in case you want to switch back.

You can update to 9.2. It probably won't fix the problem though.

So Chrome does the same thing? The issue must run deeper in the OS as colorchangin alludes to.

I was getting this all the time on the mobile site with iOS 8. Upgrading to 9 fixed it.

I'm pretty sure I'm on Chrome now, and seems to be working? But, kinda lost on some of the formats..
Will do 9 update, can't hurt, I guess???

i would. you cant live forever on an older OS so you have to cross your fingers and hope apple has added fixes to issues such as this.

it sounds like you're not the only one.
