Many sites and services use DynDNS as their upstream DNS provider, including Github, Twitter, SaneBox, Reddit, AirBnB, and Heroku. All of these are reportedly experiencing outages and downtime, either partially or totally.

Causing headaches for us at work right now.

Looks like Spotify, Netflix and SmartThings as well

While annoying, I find DDOS attacks rather childish and amateurish, especially if it were coming from someone like Russia (not saying it is).

Here's an example of what that effects:
"Hunny, I can't get Sonos to play music and Wink isn't turning the lights off!"
"I dunno, we'll listen to music later and just turn the lights on/off manually!"

You really think that's all it affects?

Seems to be from what I'm hearing. I'm no expert though on DDoS but I'm open to hearing more details.

The better question now becomes:
A) Who dunnit?
B) How do we try and prevent this in the future?

I can't login to the Workday site for our company or LSU, I'm thinking Workday is effected by this.

You're thinking about how it affects you. You need to think about how it affects the huge companies that are being attacked.

Here is an example of the effects:

Big Corp. Exec: "Oh shite, no one can access our websites and services! This is costing us $10million/day!"

Childish Amateur Attacker: "Yeah, that's me. Put $1million into this account and I'll stop the attack."

Of course, if it's a state behind it then there are much, much bigger goals.
