The new Galaxy Note 4 is a great phone, easily the best one Samsung has ever made. It ranks up there with some of the best phones you can buy. But while it's a fair criticism that Apple was late to the phablet trend, after using both devices for several days, I think Apple did a much better job at executing in one go what Samsung has been doing for three years.

Call me a design snoot. Fine. But I'll always prefer Apple's metal and glass designs over Samsung's plasticky gadgets. Samsung makes the best displays in the world, but it still wraps all that beauty in flimsy plastic. The Galaxy Note 4 is a slight improvement, though. It feels more robust in my hand than previous models thanks to a durable metal frame around the edge. Other than that though, it's still almost entirely plastic.

Display
The Galaxy Note 4 has the best best display I've ever used on a smartphone. The resolution isn't just ultra sharp at 518 pixels per inch, but colors are cleaner and richer than any other mobile display. The experts at Displaymate agree, and they found that the Note 4's screen was able to beat out the iPhone 6 Plus in every objective test they threw at it.

[quote]The App Problem
After all these years, Android still feels inferior to iOS. It has nothing to do with design or features, though, which are mostly a matter of preference. By now, Android and iOS are about equal in most respects.

But apps on the Note 4 are the problem. Even though you can find just about any app in the Google Play store that you can find in the App Store for iOS, Android apps are consistently worse than their iOS counterparts. Spending a week switching between the Note 4 and iPhone 6 Plus only emphasized that. It's never been more obvious to me that developers spend far less time and effort making their apps look good on Android than they do on the iPhone. And even with more than 80% of the world's smartphones running Android, developers typically choose to release the best new apps and updates on iPhone first.

Android versions of Twitter, Instagram, Spotify, Slack, and even Google-made apps like Gmail are all worse than their iOS versions. What felt smooth and seamless on the iPhone felt clunky and distorted on the Note 4. It's actually kind of jarring. And I think that's the most important distinction between the two phones: No matter what your hardware preferences are, apps are the gateways to just about all content on your phone. If they aren't good, your phone isn't either.

Conclusion
For me, and I imagine most others, the iPhone 6 Plus is going to be the best phablet. Unless you truly value customization and extras like a stylus, removable battery, and heart-rate monitor, the impeccable design and superior app ecosystem of the 6 Plus makes it a better choice.

he seems a little slanted against Android and the G3 is the best phablet

Is the G3 actually considered a phablet? I've always thought of it being right on the fringe.

I Never thought I would say it, as I have been a pretty big Android/Google fan for years, but I agree with a lot of the points made. I originally owned the first iPhone in 2007/2008 but since have not swayed from Android, and was always using their bigger offerings (HTC Evo 4G, Samsung Note 2, Samsung Galaxy S4, and Samsung Note 3) but decided to give iPhone a new chance since they came out with the 6+ with a great screen size.

Everything about the phone just feels so much smoother than any android phone I ever owned. IOS just feels worlds more cohesive and intuitive. I am quickly falling in love with it, and don't know that I'll go back to Android any time soon. There is a bit of an adjustment going back to it, but really no "learning curve" as it is all so simple.

I do somewhat miss android customization, but really that is about all so far. I'm not a fan of the home screen having such uniform rows and not being able to hide apps in the drawer, but have just made folders for those that I don't use a lot and put them on their own page so I don't have to look at them.

Aesthetically, and as far as physically the 6+ feels so much more solid than any of the "plasticky" android devices I owned.

Also, one of my favorite things thus far is the standby life of the battery. It very likely was settings that I had on/off and apps that would cause wake lock issues, but particularly with the EVO 4g, I knew that if I fell asleep without plugging in then I would wake up to a phone that had lost 30-40% of its charge. I find active usage battery drain to be pretty similar, but fell asleep yesterday without connecting my 6+, and woke up 6 hours later to find I had lost less than 4% which was such a pleasant surprise to wake up to.

Holy wall of text

TL;DR

Huge android fan that switched from Note 3 to iPhone 6+ and am really impressed. Battery, aesthetics, and iOS integration has blown my mind completely, also 3rd party apps that I have downloaded and used thus far feel much much better than the android versions I had used

Also, 2 things that I really enjoy so far are touchID and the fact that the charging cable works when plugged in at any orientation. Its the little things that are really impressing me.

Lmao. What a fricking moron, no surprise from BusinessInsider but still. You do know that isn't a legit website right?

The stylus alone > iPhone 6+. And yeah who in their right mind would value customization and a removable battery?

You know this is a joke of a review when the 3 biggest he features he just throws in at the end as an afterthought.

Give me the best display, customization, stylus, and superior operating system.

The biggest thing that I miss so far (only about 36 hours) is having a dedicated back button. I keep finding myself touching the right of the faceplate then feeling really stupid. It's weird to me that I have to scroll back up to the top to go back a step

It's legit in the sense it's not thought of as a biased pro Apple or a pro Android site. It's an honest review.

Just cause you don;t agree with it doesn't make it non legit.

Stylus = eventually lose= failure.

I just got back from looking at these phones. I thought the iPhone 6 might have been the plus because it was so insanely big for a 4.7 inch phone. They didn't have the plus I cant imagine how oversized they must have made that phone.

Didn't care for the design of the Note 4 all that much. Best designs I found were the G3 and the HTC One M8.

Anyone claiming that apple has better apps has never compared he facebook apps of the two. Apple's facebook app has always been a shite show.

You use Facebook?

Seriously though, what problems do you have? They update the Apple Facebook App nearly on a two week schedule now. Seems to work for me. Maybe if it didn't I'd delete that time waste.
