Need a new TV, and this one looks like a great deal. I've always enjoyed my Samsungs in the past and it seems like this would be a good buy.
Anyone have any remarks about it or is there something I am missing? Appreciate any advice here. Looks like I need to make a move quick as the deal ends Saturday.

That one is way worse than op's.

My only reservation is it's only 120hz.

Seems that 240hz is rarer with 4K than back with the 1080p days. Price goes up a lot on the 240hz Samsungs that I see from a quick search on Amazon. Hopefully 120hz wouldn't be that big of a deal?
Thank you for pointing that out. Look forward to any other feedback but this seems like a good buy, 4th of July sale maybe.

Since hardly anything is broadcast at 240hz and neither are movies... you'll be fine.

4K display is only gonna 120.
OP that a good price but don't think you have to jump on this deal now. That's a brand new model, unlike the one posted from Sam's, so it's only gonna get cheaper on some other sale deeper in the year.

Yeah not wanting to wait, as I've been thinking we need one for a while. Wife today said she thinks we need one as well. Figured I need to strike while the iron is hot.

Make sure to check which HDR standard it supports. 4k TVs are not that much more visually pleasing than 1080 HD tvs from a resolution stand point . Its the HDR that really makes them appear so much more vivid. Check to see if it supports HDR 10 or Dolby Vision. Most content providers like Netflix are supporting both, but others are picking sides.

I disagree, I find 4K much more visually pleasing when not viewing HDR content versus 1080p. In fact, even with just a great 4K upscaler in the high end Samsung's, I find viewing 720p DirecTV channels much more appealing upscaled than 1080p upscaled from 720p and by a decent margin.
But yes, HDR10 content is mind blowing on another level from standard 4K viewing.
As far as Dolby Vision, Samsung, Sony, and Sharp do not and will not support that format. If you want Dolby Vision you have 3 options, LG, Vizio, and TCL.
This format war will be short lived for one simple reason, and the same reason the major content providers and TV brands ALL support HDR10 and only 3 support Dolby Vision, HDR10 is an open format and mandated by the UHD BluRay Specification. Studios can customize it per display panel for the most optimal viewing experience which is why 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures, and other Hollywood studios have already chosen HDR and the major TV providers minus Vizio and LG, don't support Dolby Vision which is a closed platform and requires a chip inside the TV to use whereas HDR10 can be patched in with a software update such as what Vizio is doing with the P series shortly.
Furthermore, since HDR10 is mandated by the UHD BluRay Association, ALL 4K BluRay players MUST support HDR10.
As a result you get apps like these that only support HDR for their 4K movie collections:

Just checked, thank you for pointing that out. Didn't even know about this new war going on with HDR and Dolby. It does have HDR 10

Actually those two links both have only 60 native, 120 is the motion rate setting. If you get the 240 you actually get 120 native with Samsung. It is a cheap tactic by Samsung but you only get half of what they advertise as the native refresh rate of the TV. Also you get the panel lottery with Samsung now where most of the TVs do not have Samsung panels. Having said all of this, I have a non-Samsung panel and it is fine but I went for the 240 one which was on sale at Best Buy to get smoother sports experience. So far so good. But just beware of the refresh rate thing and research the panel lottery issue so you are at least aware of those things. Samsung is still the best brand but they are doing shady things that are pissing people off.

i hate the term 'future proof'.
wtf does that even mean?? what if a new flavor of 4k comes out in 6 months that blows whatever is now the 'latest and greatest' out of the water?
how can anything truly be future-proofed?

Does the motion rate setting enable that soap opera effect stuff?

On my older Samsung yes. On my newer 4k one, no. I have actually left on the 240 motion rate and do not notice the soap opera effect at all. But again, on my older one (2012 non 4k) I did.
