BetaNews 5 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Buy and Apple Watch
I saw this article, it should bring about some awesome discussion... that being said, personally I think if it wasn't for the Pebble the Apple watch makes 100% sense. I have looked at a number of Android Wear watches and none of them are "better" than the Apple Watch, they all have bad to ok battery life, the apps that run on them are ok and give them a "slight" boost, but at the end of the day the Apple Watch is going to connect better to an iPhone, so it's another wash.
The battery thing is still the biggest issue I have with these first generation smart watches and I currently use a pebble, and donated to the kickstarter for the next Pebble Time Steel, at 10 days battery life it is unbeatable. Pebble is also doing the "different bands for different things" concept on top of that, and the apps that have been build for the Pebble are really good. (also at only $250 for the Pebble Time Steel... it's an unbeatable deal in my honest opinion)
ETA:
Bernard Marr has made his own list as well

I loved the original Pebble Steel when it worked. I was constantly having to reconnect the watch to my phone to get my notifications. I've backed the Kickstarter for a Pebble Time Steel so hopefully I won't run into the same problems. I'm interested to see more on the Apple Watch but at this point to don't see myself getting one.

Pretty weak list, IMO.
There was also resistance to the iPod, killing the Newton, partnering with Microsoft, etc.
The Pebble is for gadget lovers, not the general populace. Not that there is anything wrong with that. If you love Pebble's, thats awesome. It's a pretty good smart watch and as you said, the battery life is unbeatable, but no one else is trying to compete with them on e-ink screens.

A recent profile of Jony Ive and other Apple executives by New Yorker sheds light on a resistance between the company's executives over whether Apple should make a smartwatch. The interview reveals that many in the company were against the idea of making a smartwatch.

To call Apple's watch smart is simply dumb..... It's only narrowly better than a damn digital timex you can get at wal Mart for 20 bucks. Plus it has a stupid square face.

Oh okay. So it doesn't have a built-in heart-rate monitor that doesn't require a band be worn around your chest like others? Maybe I'm an idiot but all this stuff seems pretty impressive to me.

I think the apple watch will be more successful if Apple will come out and say that all bands will be compatible with future iterations.
It's a gadget, I expect gadgets to go out of date as technology improves. I do not want to buy 5 or 6 bands for a watch and then in two years the next watch comes out and my bands are no longer compatible.

I'm on the fence. I'm not even positive I'll get one cause I don't like the projected pricing i'm seeing for the mid level ones. And I'm not sure how much a real practical use I'll get.
On the other hand they're saying once actually use one you'll wonder how you got along without it. We'll see soon enough.

Nothing earth shattering there.. But I wasn't gonna buy one anyway

number 6.
I need another gadget like I need a hole in the head.
number 7.
I have a stupid phone, and love it, so I can't even relate to it.
number 8.
I couldn't care less and I'm happy with that position.

The pebble time looks way more appealing to me than the apple watch.

just like all Apple lackeys, you will lap it up and buy it on day one, let's not get cute and act like you wont.

Just like there is 0 doubt I will buy one as well, though mine is paid for by my company, I will still buy one never the less.

I see my self having one...eventually. Whether that is in 2 years or 10 years, I don't know. I won't be getting this one though.

Update: Just scooped up one of the last Pebble Time Steels for $250.
There are 63 left at that price.

I love the link bracelet, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be WAY outside of my price range.
quote:
LINK BRACELET
Crafted from the same 316L stainless steel alloy as the case, the Link Bracelet has more than 100 components. The machining process is so precise, it takes nearly nine hours to cut the links for a single band. In part that’s because they aren’t simply a uniform size, but subtly increase in width as they approach the case. Once assembled, the links are brushed by hand to ensure that the texture follows the contours of the design. The custom butterfly closure folds neatly within the bracelet. And several links feature a simple release button, so you can add and remove links without any special tools.

Does the apple watch support Apple pay? Because if it did I'm buying it first day. I looooooove Apple pay but hate pulling out my 6+ to use it.
