I purchased a Sony TV Model XBR55X800B. Do I actually need HDMI cables that support 4k at this point in time?

TIA

Any high speed HDMI cable will carry 4k. See link below. Do not buy from bestbuy as they are a ripoff.

Buy the $4 monoprice cable. They are all the same. Even the $100 monster

I know some a/v owners and they all buy $3 bulk cables and tell the customers they are high end and charge 80-100 for them. Customer is all excited and thinks the picture will look better. Lol

You'll only be able to get up to 30hz using an HDMI cable, though

Suggestions? I have Uverse for TV and an PS3 that I will be connecting.

At 4k resolution you're limited to 30hz. Should have clarified that. At 1080p you'll get the full 60hz.
