Anyone who has worked tech support for a company, family, or friends has stories like theses.

Most of those are clearly lies. Some are funny. I rate it an IRL 2. Would not hit it.

At least they aren't the usual crop of tech support stories that have taken on urban legend status.

Having worked in retail for a couple of years, I can believe a woman threw a fit in Best Buy about a Wii steering wheel. Plasma refill truck story is plausible because that actually was a sort of common myth 10+ years ago. The terrorist tracking story is clearly made up.

I worked returns at BB for a few months while in college. I had a lady try to return a movie because her son watched it and didn't like it. I spent the next 15 minutes explaining our dvd return policy.

Back in my school days I worked for Best Buy and we had a redneck woman who had "Vaaaarrrruuussssiiiis in her computer". We asked her to bring it in. She was pissed because we didn't have nothing to give her to fix it, so she went home and came back about 2 hours later. To the front desk she pushed a buggy with her computer monitor (a mid-90's model) and a couple of random cords. We told her that in order to fix it we needed the actual computer. She argued with us for about 10 minutes, adament that what she brought in was her computer. She kept saying "Look in the buggy...this is my computer!!" It was awesome.

Customer: Do you sell the Bible here?

Me: Yes we do. Which version would you like?

Customer: The Bible

Me: Yes, I understand, which version?

Customer: The one Jesus wrote.

I worked at a hardware store in college.

I had people ask for stuff like...

Reverse thread screw drivers
Metric crescent wrenches
Tangency Points for a Briggs Engine
Male to Male extension cords
Glass for their microwave oven door

One lady said her husband told her she needed 10 bags of concrete to pour a 12ft x 8 ft x 4in thick patio

I could go on forever.

Having worked for 2 state governments and 3 international companies, I believe every one of the 21 items.

Some of them are so outrageous, the average person would think they were made up unless they were actually involved in the incident.

I worked for an international company as a programmer/analyst where I reported to a secretary. The company had broken up the programmer department and made the programmers report to the department they did work for. When I tried to explain to the secretary what went wrong and what I did to fix it, she told me that she was overwhelmed and did not want to know any more.

And she was responsible for my salary and any future pay raises........

I've actually had to build a few of these so I wouldn't talk too much shite. I have been on jobs with other crews that wired equipment wrong and put female fittings on the equipment and had to build a special cord just to run them.

And as a person who deals with the public every day, you can't imagine the stupidity of people who walk the streets now. Most of these are so unreal that they are most likely true, you just have no comprehension of how stupid people could possibly be.
