2 TVs to VGA Question

A buddy of mine is wanting to do this:
He is going to have 2 flat panel TVs that will be mounted to poles on each side of the room (front of the room). He wants to connect the TVs to some type of VGA converter box that will be in the back of the room and then connect from the converter box to a laptop so when you pull up a video, power point slide show, etc it will show on both TVs at the same time.
I'm trying to figure out the cheapest route to go. Do any of you have any ideas of how he can accomplish this without spending a ton of money?

Spend a little extra and get a matrix switcher instead of a splitter. They are cheap.

Thanks
I just found out that there is a wireless setup in that room so I'm thinking an AppleTv paired with a 2-way HDMI splitter and AirParrot would also be an option. That way all they have to do is run HDMI cable from the TVs to the splitter and one from the splitter to the AppleTV.

Use a distribution amplifier. Inexpensive.
