well when all you can watch is the champions league after school, it was either united, liverpool, arsenal, barca, madrid, chelsea, and bayern.

I did.

It was a remark to the Americans who pick a non Big 6 club just so people can't call them a bandwagoner. Sure, there are some legit Villa or West Ham fans here in the States, but there are those that would rather support a midtable club because they're afraid of what people would think if they picked a big club.

Sure, everyone can see the CL, but the EPL is much more prevalent than any other world league. I'm reminded of how Cesc was the most popular Spanish player in South Africa solely because he played in the EPL.

CL is great and everyone gets into it, but the EPL success is worth much more.

No, as long as they aren't shitting on me for being a Newcastle fan I don't. I think that club does things the right way unlike some other clubs see my OP.

I've spent quite a few months in south-central Africa (English and Portuguese speaking countries) and I can honestly say I saw more Drogba CFC shirts than all other club shirts combined. But I've spent the majority of time in very rural areas.

I personally can attest to the popularity of the EPL in South Africa. Lots of people there follow the EPL first, the SA Premiership second.

Kind of like it is in America, but you don't have the Spanish, Italian and German presence as much there. They love Messi and CR7, though.

At least that's from my experiences in that country.

I mean your point still stands but come on man, using Community Shield titles? That's weak.

Also, yes, when Roman bought the team he spent an arse ton the first couple of years because he had to catch up with the big boys. Since then though Chelsea have not really spent way out of proportion with the other big spenders in Europe.

no way, being champions of europe is what the top clubs strive for. and gets viewed more around the world and gets broadcasted in many languages.

Ha, I bet you were such an astute follower as a 9 year old. Also, who was the best team in England 20 years ago? Hmmm....

I think those £s dont tell the whole story either... when you factor in some of the wages it took to lure some of the players... although, I doubt the leader board changes much, just gets higher at the top...

Our entire Asia office seemed shocked and offended when I showed up to a team building event in a Chelsea jersey.
