Who was your favorite player growing up?

I was raised as a soccer fan from the time I was born and was just curious as to who the player was that got you to fall in love with the game. Doesn't matter if you caught on when you were 3 years old or 25 years old, most people have that one player that kind of kick started their obsession with soccer.
Personally my Dad took me to every Dallas Sidekicks indoor soccer game in Reunion Arena when I grew up. When most 4-5 year old kids were watching Disney movies and cartoons, I would watch the 1987 MISL championship video 5 times a day. My favorite player was Tatu. He would throw his jersey into the crowd every time he scored, and was easily the most entertaining player in the league.
What say you Soccer Board?

When I was younger I didn't really have a "favorite" because while I knew several players names I only really saw them play once every four years. I did like Dutch players like Davids, Seedorf, Bergkamp, and Kluivert though. I also liked Michael Owen after WC98. As I've stated before Michael Essien was/is my favorite player and the one that I started following once I had access to a lot more soccer.

Didnt really follow soccer as a kid... but the first players I really remembered was the Romario and Bebeto partnership (WC '94) and was drawn to Brazil... then of course came Ronaldo and also Michael Owen (WC '98)

I didn't follow soccer as a kid but I did know who this guy was and had to play with him whenever I played a soccer video game at my friend's house

Zidane and Henry. I'm 23.

I didn't follow as in depth as I do now, but because of my dutch ancestry I followed Ajax. Van der Vaart and Sneijder were and still are two of my favorite players.
Henry was definitely my favorite as a kid though. He was incredible.

The same as it is now: Cristiano Ronaldo. He started playing at United the same year I started following them.
I've played soccer since I was 5, but I didn't start watching it on TV religiously until I was 10.
