Watching MIB's video from today and they were discussing which players likely played their last meaningful minutes for the USMNT... was a pretty interesting take (though they think Deuce has more tread left than Baby Bradley at this point).

For reference, here's our roster:

GOALKEEPERS (3): 1-Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), 12-Tim Howard (Colorado Rapids), 22-Ethan Horvath (Molde IK)

DEFENDERS (8): 5-Matt Besler (Sporting KC), 3-Steve Birnbaum (D.C. United), 6-John Brooks (Hertha Berlin), 20-Geoff Cameron (Stoke City), 21-Edgar Castillo (Tijuana), 23-Fabian Johnson (Borussia Moenchengladbach), 14-Michael Orozco (Club Tijuana), 2-DeAndre Yedlin (Tottenham Hotspur)

MIDFIELDERS/FORWARDS (12): 15-Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), 11-Alejandro Bedoya (Nantes), 4-Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), 8-Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders FC), 13-Jermaine Jones (Colorado Rapids), 16-Perry Kitchen (Heart of Midlothian), 10-Darlington Nagbe (Portland Timbers), 17-Christian Pulisic (Borussia Dortmund), 18-Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes), 7-Bobby Wood (Hamburg SV), 20-Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy), 19-Graham Zusi (Sporting KC)

With Jurgen, who the hell knows...but...

Gone to pasture or the glue factory (which Beckerdreads probably then sniffs/huffs) - Howard, Beckerman, Wondo

Depends upon their legs - Dempsey, Jones

May get passed up by young or emerging talent - Zusi, Castilo, Orozco,

The funny thing - that leaves our starters relatively intact for the next two years (not that Jurgy will let them be that way) I just pray to God Jurgy keeps that back four playing together and then finds a midfield 2/3 that can build some chemistry. I'd also love Zardes to be a late game impact sub with his speed rather than a starter.

Castillo, Orozco, Beckerman, Wondolowski, and Zusi are hopefully done for good. We have younger, better players that can play their positions.

Howard, Dempsey, and Jones are on the verge of international retirement.

Jurgen clearly doesn't like Kitchen. At this point, you have to wonder about how many more call ups will Besler accept.

Horvath and Hamid may soon become our #2 and #3 GKs.

Why is that? He's the next CB in line, and with injuries, yellow card suspensions at World Cups, he's likely to play a decent bit with the National team. He also apparently slides in as a nice possibility at LB.

Is he? We put in Birnbaum over him against Argentina. Will Besler get any minutes at LB once Garza gets fit?

I hardly think down 3 or 4 goals at the time that Jurgy was looking to make the best tactical decision. But who the hell knows.

Either way, I wouldn't say that it was a legitimate reflection of his squad status. It may have just to give Birnbaum some more national team time.

Out: Castillo, Orozco, Beckerman, Zusi, WONDO

Why can't Besler move in to a CB position and allow Cameron to play DM?

I didn't understand that but Jurgen must not like Cameron at mid.

I think I heard that CB has been Cameron's preferred position all along.

LCB vs RCB.

John Brooks vs Geoff Cameron. I'm sure he COULD play RCB in a pinch, but he is a LCB....and apparently a decent LB fill in as well.

Birnbaum came in to fill Cameron's RCB spot.

Yeah this is fricking stupid. I know he is left footed but I would much prefer a left footed Besler in a pinch at RCB than Birnbaum at this point

Not sure how you can say that since he keeps getting called in my Jurgen. Not sure why Besler would turn down call ups.

This is heavily dependent on Jurgen actually calling them up.
