Coming in, I think many believe this to be one of the better U20's that we've sent to a World Cup, at the very least, rivaling the 2007 squad. But just in terms of the future, how many players do you expect to make an impact in future senior games?

For reference, here are the notable players from past u20 world cup teams...

2013
Cropper
Yedlin
Gil

2009
Sean Johnson
Mix
Shea

2007
Bradley
Rogers
McCarty
Adu
Altidore
Beltran

2005
Spector
Kljestan
Feilhaber
Nguyen
Evans

2003
GAM
Dempsey
Marshall

2001
Onyewu
Beasley
Davis
Donovan
Convey
Casey
Buddle

Going all the way back to 2001, only 14 players from all of those squads were selected for the four senior world cup teams from 2002-2014

I think Hyndman, Zelalem, and CCV have the best chance to make an appearance earlier than the rest of the team.

If I had to pick one it would be CCV due to the position he plays in large part. He has been fantastic.

I think Zelalam has the potential to make the squad, but needs to bulk up a bit. I really hope Arsenal finds a good place to loan him out to next season.

Rubin should make an impact. I thought he was impressive during the MNT friendlies last year, and Klinsmann certainly seems to be a fan of his. Looking forward to seeing him develop more.

I say cap your player projections at 5 guys.

For me:

Zelalem

Palmer-Brown
Carter-Vickers

And I'm probably in the minority, but I really like Miazga. If he fills out and learns the game a bit he could be a nice option at CB. I've seen him a couple of times with NYRB and he's looked good. Of course he's done some of the crazy stuff he's done in the U20WC with NYRB, too.

My big concern with Hyndman and Rubin is that one (or both) could be close to their physical ceiling.

Zelalem, Hyndman, Rubin, CCV, and Steffan all likely to get looks eventually.

Hyndman is so tiny, it's a little concerning.

I like Miazga too. A lot.

Tall intrigues me, based on his history.

With Sheep on the rest.

I'd be pretty happy if three were solid contributors at the senior level. I'll go with Rubin, one of the CBs, and Zelalem. I can tell you now that I'm wrong, though.

Would be more concerned for Rubin if he had a professional contract but no appearances. Might not ever be an essential part of the senior team, but I think think that he'll be around for a while, just because he's a pain in the arse to play against.

I better question - who is this U20 team's Sal Zizzo (or Danny Szetela)?

The guy who gets two US caps NOW and then you NEVER hear from him again.

Zelalem, Rubin, Hyndman, CCV, and Arriola all have a shot to be fixtures in the senior squad when their time comes in the future. They all are really good and hopefully just continue to get better. Might be a few years before they get called up, but when they I think they will become key players for us... Or at least I hope.

Also been impressed with Bradford Jamison at the World Cup so far. Not too familiar with him but he was really good vs NZ and has good size and is very active on the pitch. Like what I saw from him.

And I'm sure I'm forgetting players... We have a really good crop of young players coming up and there are more than a handful of them that have a shot to make an impact in the senior squad in the future. It's just so hard to predict the future for players in the sport. Some guys top out physically at a young age, some top out technically, etc Just need to hope these guys just keep getting better and better.

You cap as MANY guys with hyphenated names and dreads. That's how you build a winning program.

You're just setting yourself up for disappointment by expecting that many players to hit it big.

I think the only ones we can really say with decent certainty are Zelalem, Hyndman, and Rubin. CCV looks solid as hell but he's still so young.

See, I think CCV has a better shot, or at least as good as others. Zelalem and Hyndman are just so small right now, no telling how they'll transition as they get over.

Carter-Vickers is already built like a grown man and his ball skills are quite impressive.

All those players are set in Europe and secure situations. Jamison is setup to get solid playing time with LA next year. EPB has a bright future ahead of him and should start seeing the field for SKC soon.

I agree with this as well. There is room for a young center half to find minutes on the USMNT more easily than midefielders breaking through in Zelelem and Hyndman. Not saying that he is necessarily "better" but I agree with the comment earlier that finding quality in our center halves is clearly a need.

I agree with both of yall...

And even though CCV is still really young, his build and physicality are already of a player in his 20s. I think CCV could be called up to the senior side sooner than others do. Hes really close IMO. And CB is a position of need for us.

I could see Jurgen calling him up and giving him a chance in the not too distance future. Might not be this year, but in the next year - year and a half I def could see CCV getting the call, and he would still be 18. Out of everyone on the U20 team, he's the most ready to play on the senior squad IMO. Llike Kilo said, he might not be "better" than guys like Zelalem, but he's more ready for the senior squad right now than Zelalem is, and I'm a huge Zelalem supporter.
