Fair play

Burnley probably going down so that would be crazy. Hopefully the toffees can knick that spot.

Roger Bennett would be devastated if they do.

The Europa schedule was not kind to Everton. I'm not sure they'd even want to go.

He'd likely change his tune with the new TV deal being 68% of Champions League TV revenue. Along with incentives to win, the tournament is no longer such a joke.

May be bad news for the EPL trying to hang onto the 4th CL spot for 2016-17.

Eredivise has to be hating this as well as it seems they will get another team as well just as they're fighting to maintain their 2nd CL spot.

It would be like what Wigan did a couple of years ago.

They need to get rid of the 3rd place teams in the CL dropping down to the Europa.

Now that a CL spot is on the line I think it should exclusively be an avenue for these kinds of clubs to get into the CL. Also, swap the days around so Europa games are played on Tuesday and CL on Wed/Thurs

Just saying that from an interest perspective it hurts the Europa that the games are played the day after the "main event" CL games.

europa on tuesday with bookend league games on saturdays could work.the CL clubs prob wouldn't be fans of playing thursdays though even if they have guaranteed league matches on sundays.

I don't know if it's a good idea. The premise of some 3rd place teams going into EL is specifically to help clubs from smaller leagues. You can focus on a few bigger clubs entering EL by "underperforming" in CL this way.
However, there's also a lot of clubs from smaller leagues that aren't rewarded for winning their leagues simply by facing Real and Juve for 4 of 6 group stage matches on their way home.
