We're entering uncharted territory with Pulisic

Reading everything from Dortmund, that club reveres this kid. His trajectory is so high that rumors are that Barca is looking at him.

I know it's a longshot and a lot of shite can happen, but this kid has a chance to be a top 10 player in the world.

His generation has quite a few good players coming through the ranks. None that are on his level at the moment but there's potential for us to build a solid core around him come, 2022 and 2026.

Let's take a couple deep breaths real quick

I don't want to see him get crushed by fan/media pressure.

I'm by no means saying "crown his arse" (RIP Denny Green). He still has A LONG way to go, but we've never had an American prospect with this much potential.

And trust me, I don't think CP will be fazed by ol' Broski making this thread on the soccer board sub-forum of tigerdroppings.

Well we've never had prospects produce at this level, in Europe, this young. I mean, John O'Brien played for Ajax at 18 when Ajax was a real power, which shouldn't be discounted.

Having a Pulisic is great, but I'd rather have a team full of Cherundolo's, as in European stalwarts who play week in and week out and are mainstays for their club team. Having a foundation of Dolo with the occasional Pulisic has to be the pattern for the next 20 years for us to make the jump to the next level.

To be fair, you look at our projected first choice XI and you either have guys who are currently featuring in Europe (Brooks, Cameron, Fabs, Pulisic) or guys who did so in the not too distant past before coming back to America (Howard, Bradley, Kljestan, Bedoya).

By the way, I miss Dolo.

Yeah we are getting closer.

I don't see how anyone can't miss Dolo. He was a rare player in our pool.

Well that isn't possible. We might get a player like Pulisic once in a generation.

This is America... Anything is possible.

Seriously though... as a nation of kids watch an American player of pulisic's level, I think we will start to get to a point where it's definitely not once in a generation.

Well we aren't ever going to reach Spain's level where they have more no 10s than all of Europe(though certain areas of the country could if the sport could surpass football) and most countries don't produce all that many no. 10's anyway. How many failed French no. 10s would be the best player we've ever had? Quite a few. Pulisic is a player that has a much higher ceiling than any other player we've had due to his intelligence.

But my point about a team full of Dolo's is more about function. You don't want to develop international teams around certain players. You want to develop a system that those players fit into, and a system that allows (when they are available, as we've seen many tournaments where a team is derailed because their star player isn't available) that star player to flourish.

if he leaves Dortmund for a Barca/Real, he might as well just whizz his career down the drain.

sitting on the bench, getting a run for the last 3 minutes of a game will not help his progress.

He needs to play. Dortmund might be his best fit.

Agreed, he needs to develop at BVB. But if/when he establishes himself as a legit top talent in Europe... who knows?

If that's the case he should just go to the MLS and play every minute right?

The training environment at Barca will be faster - it's a higher level. Train at that level to play at that level. When he adjusts in training he'll see the field.

I pray he stays at Dortmund for years to come. He shouldn't be looking move for at least five years. Dortmund develops talent and its average starting age is in the low 20s right now... While producing a solid side.

It's been a good 2016 for CP.
