Why have Jones on the roster if he's suspended for one of the 2 games? Is the only way for him to serve the suspension and get it out of the way to be on the roster?

No, but that's why 24 players were called in. Dax will probably be released after the first match.

And I'd rather have Acosta start next to Bradley in game 1 than Dax.

Nagbe hasn't played centrally for the US. You're comparing apples to oranges

I think he has in some of his substitute appearances.

And he still didn't look as good as Benny or Sacha.

Honestly, with the first match at home, I'd rather us go with a more attacking minded partner to Bradley, Lletget or Nagbe. We need goals. A 4-4-2 diamond with a front 5 of Jozy, Wood, Pulisic, Fabs and Nagbe would be really overwhelming.

I'm not sure, when he came into the picture under Jurgen we were favoring the 4-3-3 and he seemed to always come in on the left.

Now that I think about it, the friendly before the Copa against Ecuador, he had to have played centrally because Pulisic was on the left when he assisted Nagbe's goal. So I take that back.

Still, even in January, Bruce viewed Nagbe as a wide option while Benny and Sacha played the 10.

Distribution and finishing is not as good as either of those two, I agree. That said, I think he's better at keeping possession and is definitely a better athlete.

Agreed here... Both Benny and Sacha have proven to be very hit or miss over the years, Nagbe is much more consistent.

With that said, if we play Nagbe in a central role in either of these two games after not getting him a look there once with a weaker January Camp, it would come across as something Jurgen would pull i.e. no rhyme or reason and just throwing shite against the wall to see what sticks.

Not saying it won't work, but...

Surprised Kitchen didn't get invited over some of the MLS guys since he's actually been playing

Hyndman has been Player of the Month twice? Bruce must not have much love for the SPFL.

Also, I'm surprised that no one has Dempsey starting. I would be quite surprised if he doesn't start at least one match.

Im just spitballing but is it cuz he wants him to keep being consistent with his club team and cementing is spot? Also maybe he doesn't have the chemistry with the rest of the team as he has only been called up once? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I like this roster though for the most part.

As for Orozco, Arena said he has been playing well with a lot of appearances for Tijuana.

There's not a spot on the field that I would want him to start at.

What?

They don't award one for January because of the winter break and Dembele was POTM for February.

I added a quesiton mark because it was something I read. I know he won some player of the month reward, but it was only for the team itself. He didn't win anything for POTM league-wise.

I imagine he'll either play up top with them or behind in a CAM or false 9 role. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to roll something like this out (with Fabian and Pulisic both having great versatility and defensive workrates): LINK

It's not what I would roll out, but I think Arena will try and fit him in to start one of the games. Considering our opponents I think going for a lead and then holding it with bringing on guys like Nagbe and Dax to keep the ball and defend.

Clint will be coming off the bench, per Bruce.

Clint obviously had some medical problems the last year. He’s been on the road to recovery. He played 90 minutes in his first MLS matches. He’s doing well. He’s a player we’re going to include.
He may have a different role than he’s had previously. We’re gonna let him have the year to really get in the right kind of form that he can have and get back 100 percent. But he’s a player in one of these two matches he can step on the field in the last 15-20 minutes and help us get a goal. What a luxury to have Clint Dempsey.

meh. only a few players excite me on this roster, and yet i realize this is likely the best option moving forward...which in turn bums me out about our future if we can't find guys to fricking push out beasley, jones, dempsey, bradley, etc. so fricking old, and slow in spots. beasley?!?! lol.

so i throw up a half-hearted
