But hey, now we're certain who the boss is, so there's that.

Or maybe Landon now gets the message that no one person is bigger than the team, even if he is the greatest US player ever(I think he is). Even if Landycakes was in terrible form for the next callups (which I highly doubt he will be) he will get called up.(Shea is a perfect example of Jurgen calling guys up not based on form).

the myopia of USMNT fans never ceases to amaze me.

there is no squad that wouldn't have resulted in all the complaining. and no, that doesnt make us sophisticated, "real" fans.

Why does Klinsman hate Lichaj so much?

That's all I've got.
With Cherundolo and Chandler out it's hard to imagine what we'd need to see to get Lichaj back out there for the nats. Does every right back down to Zach Loyd need to go down to injury?

Actually, your statement is not really true. The vast majority of us would have been fine if he brought in Landon who should have been an obvious selection and not six fricking goalies.

Sure, there will be always a couple of calls for guys like Lichaj, but missing a Lichaj or two is not a big deal. You still have a good selection without him, but excluding is unacceptable. Only an idiot would not bring in Landon.

What?

Who cares what Landon thinks about that?

Score goals, win matches, F everything else.

Klinsi.

It's bullshite. If Landon can help us get to the world cup he needs to be on the roster. He's not so Jurgen can prove a point.

I'll argue that Bocanegra should be on it. Let him go out against Germany, as Captain, in style.

Boca has been straight fricked by Jurgen.

I'd be inclined to agree.

Landon admitted he almost quit soccer. JK wants his head on straight. There is still plenty of time.

klinsman needs to realize he is not only pissing off fans, but the players also.

Which players are pissed off?

Also, some may write it off as "what he's supposed to say" (although LD is usually pretty honest in his interviews), but I really liked this quote from his recent interview with Rog Bennett:

quote:

This is the first time in ages that Landon Donovan has had to think about playing himself back into the U.S. men's national team, and I ask if being snubbed would be a motivator. The veteran does not shirk the question. "My ego would say that is crap, but the reality is you need to earn your way back in, and I have been given the benefit of the doubt many times in my career where I have played three or four very poor games in a row and still had a chance to play. It should not be that way," he declares. "Conversely, if I continue to play well, I should be called in. I just want it to be fair. I just have to keep producing."

I agree on Donovan- if for nothing else than to have the best US player ever on the field for the centennial game.

Jurgen may have no idea what hes doing, but I would bet (and I could be way off) the last WCQ roster thread had plenty of people going nuts over his choices. He got 4 points from that roster.

I've started blaming Jurgen for Jozy's struggles with the nats.

I'm looking forward to seeing Agudelo in the gold cup.

Klinsmann explains his roster decisions. Sort of.

Re: Holden
quote:

“He’s very simple in his approach,” Klinsmann said. “He’s a very fast thinker. He’s ahead. He knows how to position himself ahead of time. He doesn’t react too much to the game. He’s always trying to be a thought ahead of others. His simplicity in the game technically. He’s a one, two-touch player. he doesn’t lose time with dribblings where you don’t need to dribble. He doesn’t want to show off.”

I absolutely agree. I think JK hit the nail on the head.

Good article, don't disagree w/ anything he said.
I love having Fab Johnson, I really hope we see him on the left wing soon, even though I think he's too valuable as a left back to move to LW permanently
