Here's a LINK from last year regarding the facility.

quote:

The state-of-the-art campus would be designed, developed and operated as a world-class training facility dedicated to the future of American soccer. At a projected cost of $50 million, the National Training and Coaching Development Center would host U.S. National Team camps, coaching education and referee development programming.

U.S. Soccer will also explore the feasibility of establishing futsal and/or small-sided soccer programming to be managed out of the National Training and Coaching Development Center.

Sincerely,

Kansas City

Why is this a problem?

They need about ten more of these around the country to maximize soccer potential.

Germany invested more than a Billion over the last 10+ years in youth development.

This is a great start for the US.

Agreed. With or without MLS connections, these academies could play a pretty large role in developing and refining the country's elite talent of the future

Because they should have built it in Missouri.

Forgot that I don't have anything to show that I am a Mizzou fan in my profile now.

ETA: jk, yes I do

This is pretty smart considering that US Soccer basically uses the StubHub Center complex as its de-facto training complex.

As crazy stated, building more around the country will improve our development programs.

It also creates an interesting format for our future national team training camps.

Awesome. Build more!

California, Southeast, Texas, New England, Pacific Northwest, Midsest, and Florida (near Bradenton).

We need academies in the Gulf Coast. I was looking over the ones that are MLS-affiliated and there is nothing in Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama.

Is this an academy or something? Like another Bradenton? I don't get it.

It's the new headquarters for the USMNT training ground. Or an alternate one.

I'm just trying to figure out how this helps development exactly. Is it just a decent training facility for our national team, or something?

Essentially.

They've been talking about it for a bit. Not sure if they're moving USMNT headquarters completely from L.A., but they might be gradually moving the USMNT training ground to KC.

You guys didn't even really care about your team until it was rebranded.
