Not to mention this is a fricking stupid, out of touch move on their part.

The dynamics of the entertainment industry are changing radically and rapidly...rapidically if you will.

It's no secret that cable companies are completely fricked if they continue in their present state. Becoming an industry leader in the market for streaming is a no-brainer. Not acknowledging and anticipating the growth of soccer and an increase in a market segment such as the Hispanic community is just bad business.

I just emailed my complex about regulations for installing a dish, and that is not allowed. I'm not mad, just a little sad.

Cox is a stubborn company with terrible customer service. I expect nothing less.

Cable companies failing to opt in to streaming services doesn't bother me nearly as much as their tireless infrastructure excuses for adding new channels. I'm not well-versed in the technical aspects of the various television provision methods, but I figure that if the people who have to deal with fricking space can operate with enough foresight to provide new channels quickly, cable companies can do it too.

Though, it'd be great if I had access to the beIN streaming service that was announced by my provider almost a year ago. Then, I could access their programming in HD.

I just hope Cox comes to their senses on this one. I have a vague impression they have on similar issues in the past. What it boils down to is the amount of requests they get by subscribers to add the service. It's a direct function of perceived demand to justify NBC's asking price.

Yeah, and with how much money NBC has in it, I'm sure that it is a little higher than $20 and a paperclip.

shite like this will always annoy me, though. My interests are the most important in the world. To me, anyway.

No doubt. However, while I have little evidence to support it, I'd imagine their margins are pretty substantial in a market that is somewhat reflective of an oligopoly (not a monopoly obviously and eta not monopolistic competition either lol econ).

There's hope for us yet. ATT UVerse just added the feature a week ago. Cox is likely still in negotiations. The way we influence that is by emailing and bitching.

Hopefully DirecTV partners with NBC for this Live Extra thing because right now Live Extra isn't available to people with DirecTV like myself.

Dear AC Geaux129:

Thank you for your email regarding adding a channel.

Cox serves its vast and diverse customer base with a wide variety of cable programming while simultaneously trying to keep our customers’ bills as low as possible. Therefore, we continually evaluate new networks as they become available, and assess whether the new network would create additional value for our customers based on how much it costs and the available bandwidth. At this time we have no plans to launch NBC Sports Live Extra, but we will continue to monitor the network and keep our customers informed of any changes. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

And yeah etm I gave them (in a polite way) very sound reasoning as to why they are shooting themselves in the foot. I asked for it be forwarded to their content team Haha.

And Lolz at bandwidth being a reason.

Pretty much everything that DirecTV has outside of the random EL and CL rights

Also think that they have a number of random ethnic channels that you can subscribe to if you just have to watch the Thai Premier League, or some shite like that
