I had headaches all the time as a child (never do anymore) and played soccer from the time I was 4 or 5 until 15 or so. I have no doubt that it had something to do with it.

This is still stupid.

That's a bit anecdotal, isn't it? I've played soccer all my life and have never had headaches, aside from when getting sick. And let me tell you, I headed the ball a ton, at all stages. I have no doubt that heading had nothing to do with causing headaches.

See how that works?

Jesus, are we not allowed to make quips about our personal experiences anymore?

Can someone explain to me why this is a big deal? I can't imagine u-11's do all that much heading anyway.

Regardless, I would also be in favor of using heavier balls to incentivize technique and short patterns of play rather than punt and run tactics. The Brazilians use this technique, as the futsal ball is about a size 4 but is heavier than a size 5.

I think that's just because futsal is played on a hard surface and you want the ball to run a little slower/be a bit heavier and easier to control on a small pitch.

Doctors have developed a reliable blood test for diagnosing concussions.

One of the only "injuries" I remember from my entire childhood was when I was put in goal just for a penalty kick (because redneck 6 year old soccer is serious shite) and immediately had a rock solid soccer ball launched into my face. I asked my mom if I blocked it multiple times. For the record, though, I stopped that shite like a boss.

So, I guess I somewhat understand why this is a thing. I just wonder how you really handle the transition to "headers allowed now, guys!"

Of course! I was just pointing out the absurdity of his statement.

did you ignore the part where I said at the end "this is still stupid"? I was relating my experience as a kid growing up playing soccer 3 seasons a year for 10+ years. Of course it's anecdotal, and I in no way intended for it to show support for the rules being implemented. Calm down sparky.
