Is someone leaving out information on all of this? Was it just a partial tear? Or is Stu just overly optimistic to the point of insanity?

Also, this:

I thought it was a complete tear but I'm not sure.

Still, the ligamentization process of an ACL repair takes a full year for it to be 85%. By 6 months it's only 50%.

He's really pushing it. I don't even think that's safe.

I love the guy but if he wants to go to Brazil for the World Cup, his best bet is to buy a plane ticket. With the amount of depth we have at CM right now and his injury issues it's a long shot. I'm not trying to be negative just realistic. I'd also rather see him take his time and not try to rush things or he may never see the field again.

Most ACL protocols begin return to sport activities around 5 or 6 months. When did he tear his ACL?

Keep in mind this is BEGIN to return to sport. Some freaks (Adrian Peterson) reach a pretty high level pretty quickly. Others take a bit longer.

He could easily be playing again and in good form come time for the world cup. Does he want to chance it again? I'm not sure but I'm thinking probably so.

I'd take a healthy Stu over Mix and/or Beckerman.

Question is if a healthy Stu even exists anymore.

He is 9 weeks post op.

Cutting activities (see: soccer) usually set the time table at 9 months. This is according to my doc, who is pretty conservative, but he would never advise a return at 6 months, let alone 5 months.

This hasnt existed in years. Stu hasnt shown me really anything with the USMNT, Mix has. I'd take a healthy Mix over a healthy Stu

When the two played together in the Gold Cup, I think Stu outperformed him... barely.

Healthy Stu is just a myth at this point. He would have to do something to convince Jurgen without a shadow of a doubt that he deserves a spot. Mix to me is a lock to go. Stu would take Sacha or Beckerman's spot. Beckerman might even be pretty tough since Jurgen loves that Rhastaman.

i would think march would be a more realistic target. i'd be over the moon if he hadn't had all the previous complications with the knee. anyone who's had a problem like this knows how sensitive it can be. hope to see him on the plane but don't want him too push too hard and sacrifice the rest of what could still be a long career.

I know it's a longshot and probably won't happen, my point is that if Stu does in fact return in December and steadily improves in the following months to get to the form he was pre-Jonny Evans, then you have to put him on the plane to Brazil because that type of player is better than Mix and Beckerman.

Again, I don't think that will be the case, just presenting a best case scenario.
