I've never understood that narrative about this Copa as a put down.

You can literally say that about every single event FIFA does.

This tournament doesn't determine a Confederations Cup spot, and they just had a Copa last year. I get it.

Well, the World Cup is obviously the main event. Confederations Cup is a test run for the World Cup. Gold Cup, Euros, Copa America, etc. is for a spot in the Confederations Cup. World Cup Qualifying is obviously for a spot in the World Cup.

Copa America Centario? No impact on the World Cup. Winner doesn't go to the Confederations Cup. It's not the "real" Copa America. Was half assed put together. No extra time until the final. Unreal ticket prices. It is supposed to celebrate 100 years of CONMEBOL, yet they host it in the USA?

Also I believe the notoriously corrupt Traffic Sports organized it.

Fair, but taking it at face value, it's still a competitive atmosphere (besides the joke squad Brazil brought) regardless of the intentions for it.

I saw it live when he was making his picks. You have to think he picked Mexico primarily to avoid being labeled a homer. He was cool about it. I mean, it's pretty hard not to like the guy.

Stu does a pretty good job when it comes to the studio stuff. As far as his career as a TV pundit going forward, he should definitely steer towards doing that type of work as opposed to the in-game commentary. He doesn't have the voice or the disposition really to be a good color guy.

He also picked Mexico before the tournament had started.

If Messi wasn't here, Mexico would be the best team at the tournament.
