Someone catch me up

For several reasons, I have not been following European league soccer nearly as closely as I used to these last few years. I know that probably sounds nonsensical, since we're getting significantly more games and more and more Americans are playing overseas every year, but it's true.
That said, my scorecenter app has been informing me about each of Roma's wins, and today I finally decided to check the table. That got me wondering about Roma, and I thought I would ask about some things I've been wondering but simply haven't gotten around to asking.
1. How did Roma get so good? Do people expect them to keep it up? While I love Rome and have actually been pulling for them for a few years, I'm admittedly a Michael Bradley fan first. Is he going to get much playing time when he's healthy?
2. What happened to Inter? I actually meant to ask this last year, but I'm just getting around to it now.
3. What has changed that has enabled Liverpool and Arsenal to return to the top of the table? Obviously Sir Alex retiring is going to have an affect on United, but I'm still a little surprised. I really thought it may take a coaching change for Arsenal to get back to where they were.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

A real manager + very smart moves in the transfer market + players finally showing their potential.

Win Serie A? No. Champions League? Yes.

He's not going to be a full-time starter, but he's going to get his chances to spell Roma's other midfielders.

2. What happened to Inter?
Shitty manager + mix of really old and really young players

Arsenal finally being healthy + Ozil. Pool being this high is deceiving right now, IMO.

1. great defense and their aging superstar is playing like he's 10 years younger than he is and still playing at a high rate. they've done really good with signing/developing young players
2. they can't spend what they used to spend and are in a transition phase where they still have older guys and need a new generation to come in.
3. pool is like inter but 3 years into the overhaul. they finally hired a good manager and have made some great, cost-conscious additions. suarez is a superstar. sturridge developed into what people thought he could. coutinho and others are creative attacking players. arsenal is similar to this plus they got one of the 10 best players in the world this offseason. they have young players developing at a high rate (like ramsey and their wingers) and made some great signings on a budget (santi, arteta, girous).

1. The Roma answers seem right on spot. We're pretty good but the 8-0-0 with 22 goals scored vs 1 allowed may be a little much to keep up especially with Totti picking up and injury this weekend.
2. Inter will be pretty interesting to watch over the next couple of seasons. They're undergoing a pretty massive rebuilding and have been since Mourinho brought then that triple with a serious "scorched earth" transfer strategy.
They've just had their majority stake bought by the Indonesian businessman Erick Thohir whose also a majority owner of DC United and, I think the Philadelphia 76ers. Probably some posters here know more about him than I do but I'm interested to see what he does at Inter. I'm guessing similar plans (stadium + youth movement) as Pallotta with AS Roma.
On the field, they hired Walter Mazzarri before the club was sold and he already has them playing much much better. Maybe good enough to stay in the hunt for a CL position and at least Europa League in what's a strong top of the table in Italy this year. He's a very good manager and they'll compete sooner rather than later if they keep him.
However, there are some rumors that suggest Mazzarri and Thohir may not see eye to eye insofar as Thohir probably has a Roma-type build with youth approach in mind and Mazzarri has always been known as more of a "win with veterans" than "develop young talent" type.
