I actually thought about mentioning this earlier. 100% of news articles I read and 90% of message boards are English. They use "stamp," so its just natural to repeat that.

You use the wrong conjugation of an English verb and it sets off 5 pages of responses over how we're all trying too hard. Its a shame so many people feel so threatened by the sport that they have to resort to such meaningless silliness.

I'm sure there are people that do. But the frequency of that accusation and what its usually based is hilarious. Every sport has its own lexicon. This one's is generally British. Because the sport originated in that country. Its just much easier to use the same vocabulary you hear on TV everyday.

I mean I get some of it... but I'm pretty sure stamp isnt just british...
But to someone's point earlier in the thread, when all you do is read and listen to british/european journalists/pundits on all things football (sorry, soccer...)... It's hard to not pick up on some things and there's no need to apologize or dumb it down for joe redneck...

I see i ruffled some feathers. It just doesnt come off as genuine to me. At all. But I'm not going to overly judge you for saying stamp/tie/pitch/kit/boots. Just marginally.
