i know that this is a very common theme around the world, but if only we had a real LB

3v1 Defensive stop
He played incredibly today. He may be our best defender of all time in a few years.

The way that he has brought in a bunch of these foreign guys is not something I believe in wholeheartedly. I don't believe in it. I don't believe in it in my heart.

After watching the highlight, this was perhaps the worst example of awful zonal marking on that goal. Not only does Brooks have a free header, because nobody checked his run, three other American players would have had a free header.
Brooks' header also bounces off the turf and could have been deflected had one of the Ghanaian defenders actually reacted, and the Ghanian keeper positioned himself in no-man's land. Zusi's corner was wonderful, but it's the kind of corner that normally gets cleared 20 meters ahead.

I remember thinking before the goal that Ghana seemed weirdly slow to get back to defend the corner--even after Fabian Johnson's run to earn the corner should have alerted the Ghanians, that the Americans still could break on the counter.
