I was kinda looking forward to watching Moreno today...

timing and price seems odd, unless we called their bluff in the 11th hour... play him and the deals off the table!

I too am curious of the add ons... how about if both have a good year, you go ahead and keep Aspas and we'll call it a day!

Also depends upon which countries media is reporting rumor. Liverpool insider will report low part of deal. Spanish will report maximum possible price.

If it's remotely near 12 it's a great deal. Anything under 20 is great by me.

Still have a lot of cash left too...

I've been away from soccer for a couple weeks. Can someone briefly explain how we signed Moreno for £12M? I thought the number under consideration was £20M. Or is it not true? TIA.

The £20 million number was probably something just being thrown out there, or something Sevilla put out as his original asking price. I'm not completely convinced were only paying £12 million. I would imagine that 12 is the up front installment, with add ons likely putting it somewhere in the middle of those two fees.

Holy frick 12mm? Yes please.

Ideally I'd like a backup keeper, a CM, and a striker.

For striker at this point I'd like a veteran guy to rotate in, or a solid young talent who can rotate in. Really just a one-year stop gap to monitor Borini and Origi's progress to next season

I can't stand another season of Lucas. He is a liability in the middle of the field. So a DM/CM for me. Plus a young striker who doesn't mind coming off of the bench and a goalkeeper to provide competition to Mig. I hope we go for Mat Ryan or Perrin.

I am of the opinion that we should go young on the striker but I understand if we get a veteran for a year. Although Eto scares me with his attitude considering he will be way down on the priority list at this club. I would favor a Bony move since he really wants to be here and is a proven PL goal scorer at a good age. Definitely need a back up GK.

It's amazing how quickly this opinion has developed. 2-3 years ago, he was one of everyone's favorites.

ETA: Pre-injury, I guess.

Looks like Moreno has been spotted at melwood per twitter. Kolo Toure has also apparently turned down a move to trabzonspor(sp?) to fight for a place here.

I'm not in love with the Eto'o, but as long as it is for one year only, I could live with it... the club can decide whatever wages he's worth for the short term, doesn't really matter..

That said I kinda like the younger, but ready to play, option... someone like Muriel or Icardi (though he's questionable for other reasons)..

If it was me, and Ive been holding back on this for a long time 'cause it aint popular, I'd go for Pato.. for ~£10-12mm. He's only 24, he seems to have gotten over his injury problems... he just needs that fire again... maybe we can give it to him, with the hopes of joining Dunga's Selecao again... If he could capture his form again, he has WC ability... Anyway, may be speaking with my heart and not my head, because he used to be a favorite...

Ben smith (BBC) reporting we made inquiries for Falcao, Cavani, and Benzema which were all quickly rejected.
