I think I agree but if not CB who do you think we could realistically sign?

That's the problem. There's just not enough names out there, at least that I know of, that are affordable

Unfortunately Lacazette is a pipe dream, Higuain actually looks to really want an Anfield move but....come on. So unless we want to be scrambling like last year I think it's Benteke and I'm fine with that at this point. I'm just glad that we have come to the realization that we have Elijah Price as our best striker.

There are others out there, but this has the makings of BR/Lallana 2.0/tunnel vision...

Well it does - but I think it's also that br wants someone he knows is pl proven.

On my phone so can't pull quotes easily, but Ive been slowly thinking that bentenke would do fairly well her - maybe not the perfect choice- but he has a skill set that is varied enough to fit in with us and to possibly add some extra dimensions to our game.

this has some reasona ive been rethinking the belgian

Like I said on the last page... I've resigned myself to it and could get behind it... He's not a useless lump, like many In some forums have suggested... Ultimately, it ain't my money, so...

If we get Studge back healthy, it would make for good competition...

Obviously, I'd prefer someone that was a little more versatile... But he's scored a bucket load of goals in the EPL without the likes of Coutinho and Firmino supplying him...

I read an interesting article about why he would be good for Liverpool. Main point was we were 19th in crosses in the prem while Villa were 14th. A lot of their goals came from run of play, centrally. Just something I read but it was an interesting stat nonetheless

the same sort of reasoning and justification was used when we got Andy fricking Carroll.... we know how well that shite worked out...

we need off the ball movement.... Suarez was a master of this, and because of his knowledge of spacing, timing, etc., it opened opportunities for him and his teammates...

hoofing it to the "tall dude in the box" is not a viable or reliable goal scoring method... and yes, Benteke is vastly superior to Carroll, i understand, but he's still not very much a thread to open up shots for himself with the ball at his feet....

TBF, Carroll was a last minute, panic buy in January... Benteke has been scouted since pre-achilles injury...

Trust me, I'd love another Suarez... but those players are so few and far between.. Young guys like Vietto and Dybala went to UCL teams... I think Lacazette would too, if he leaves Lyon...

I think most of the others out there would be a gamble, of a different sort than Benteke...

The only one who may fit the bill is Aubamayeng, since BvB failed to qualify for UCL... but we seem to be all on for Benteke... learn to embrace it

Don't shoot the messenger. And if you read between the lines of my post, Benteke hasn't scored the majority of his goals from crosses. Therefore, we wouldn't "hoof" it in the box because that's not Benteke's game

sorry, i wasn't trying to... just voicing my opinion of the possible signing....

i can almost guarantee you that when push comes to shove that's what we'd try with benteke.... sorta how we just try to force it to Balotelli and just sorta watch to see if he would do anything with the ball at his feet...

unless the player we buy or already have on the roster can learn how to play without the ball and learn where and when to make runs to give service balls a chance to link up, we won't score goals... our strikers can't create their own shots with the ball at their feet, so they are gonna have to learn to move without the ball...

We started preseason training today.

And how did we let this fall to page 3?

I see most reported to training. I assume the brazilians have off a little while longer because of Copa America

It was tftc with a non challant post (that sounds similar to this year thoughts) that ended up working out well.

TFTC - do it again
