Not that I have even been a soccer fan for that long, but my mind tells me that the more control of the midfield you have, the less pressure you see on both your back line and front. That's why I enjoyed when we played a 3-5-2 this year... it gave us meximum control and possession, and gave our players up top more flexibility and space.

Even though we lacked true creativity outside of Sterling/Coutinho when it came to making scoring chances happen, there was enough room around that those two could be enough for a win.

I could see this being the way we go, especially with a lack of big name striking talent being willing/available to help us out.

Guess the obvious problem is the lack of width, but Moreno and Clyne can both get forward and the Brazilians both drift out wide...

No i just mean the players we're buying now are probably being funded by that 50.

Rodgers has always liked to have good fullbacks that stretch the field and provide width going forward so that we can play a little more narrow with our attackers.

At least now, I see us playing some variation of s 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 to maximize our attacking talent, and depending on the game, he may add more of a true midfielder to help control the game or go with more of our attack minded players to break teams down. The good thing when we do go attack heavy as that we could play with a midfield full of guys with high work rates and press non stop, so hopefully that could help cover up our lack of a true, top class DM

Great.

Looks like we're selling our most consistent midfielder and the player that once he went down, the team went to complete shite.

More Brilliance from Rodgers.

Let's get rid of one of our most loyal vets that had a stellar season before his injury. I'm getting so f-ing jaded on LFC. Quickly approaching Hodgson days I'm afraid.

Nice. What was that a solid 8M loss or so? Or did we only pay 7 for him?

He's talking about the rumor that Lucas has been told he's surplus. Nearly happened the last two years so no big surprise, but we have ended up needing him the last two years. Better mean ill is coming or somethingr though.

Rumor about lacazette being offered to arsenal for 21m. I will definitely be upset if they get him so cheaply. We really need to full court press him and offer high wages. No chance though as I think he wants CL clubs only. If only we had gone for him last year....

We signed Bobby Adekayne. 16 year old that was caught up in the Barcelona transfer stuff. He became a free agent because of all of it.

Ok, gotcha... I think he's ok as a squad player, but we should be able to get better... he's not good enough IMO.

He has given away more free kicks in dangerous areas than anyone I can remember... a fouling machine..

He's def lost a step with his injury but he was a crucial piece to our winning run last year. A lot of that had to do with Gerrard offering zero cover whatsoever either.

Go back and watch the games. He was great.

Stupid to let him go. He's not even on that high of wages.

I don't care if he stays or goes as long as we get some cover for that position.

He is cover? Why let him go and take a risk on someone else.

He's not old, he's been loyal as hell and pre-injury he was one of the better holding mids in the world.

He deserves better from us IMO.

You got that right. I wish we would at least try and go all in for this guy with Sterling money. I know it's a pipe dream but a guy can hope can't he? Could you imagine this monster finishing with our attacking options?

I'd be curious to see what sort of lineup we would trot out with the hypothetical addition of Lacazzette.

He and Sturridge up top. Firmino and Cou as attacking midfielders. Hendo and Milner as holding midfielders.

Do you play a 3 man backline and get Llana or Ibe in the lineup or a play a 4 man backline?

Either way, it's better than any option we saw last year imo. Can plug in Ings when Sturridge gets hurt and still have a world class striker in the starting 11. (Meaning Lacazzette obviously)

He should be the top priority. It's baffling that he doesn't seem to be.

Also saw a Higuain rumor today

I would think BR would go with a 3 deep and attempt to get back to scoring goals. I have seen the Higuain rumors too. I don't know which reports are crazier, Lacazette or Higuain.
