35 million pounds on 3 players is by far the biggest expenditure of the Ashley era, but the team still probably need 2-3 more players at that level to reasonably hope to break into that top 6-7 where Newcastle belong.

It's going to be a very tough start to the season, with matches against 6 of the top 8 last year in the first 2 months.

You can have Thauvin for 21M Euro and Cabella. Otherwise, frick off.

Glad to see this thread here

Still would like to see another defender come in, but like the new signings. Wijnaldum will be a stud. Not going to expect much for the first few months, but like the direction we are heading

Lens, Kaboul, Coates(essentially the reason we stayed up last year), with Fer and M'Villa undergoing medicals. I have no unfounded aspirations of being up the table, but should be plenty good enough to continue making you our unwashed bitches....and a manager who has forgotten more football than your horse faced douche with his fake Geordie accent will ever know. Now go run along to your PSG thread where you really want to be anyway...you've already gotten more responses on page one than your entire shitty season threads of talking to yourself in years past.

Looks like they are still trying to pry Charlie Austin away from QPR for less than the 15 million they are asking. I think they should just spend that money and roll with Mitro, Cisse, and Perez at striker. Not sure why they are so hard up to bring in Austin at this point.

Steve McClaren hinted at another defender coming in soon. God knows they need it.

Decent result. I listened to the game on TuneIn and thought that Newcastle was the better team until the final 10-15 minutes, which I think I should get used to this year.

What was going on with McClaren's substitutions? Were Papiss Cisse and Wijnaldum gassed? If McClaren thinks that Newcastle can his team can fall back into a defensive game with a lead, then this might be the start of a long season for the Magpies.

the thing is that compared to John Carver, McClaren is Alex Ferguson.
