I'm going to start watching MLS so I can find a team to support.

ETA: Stadium looks fantastic. The pictures of the one going up in Atlanta looks great too.

So exciting.

It sounds like they are doing everything right:
quote:

Complete 360-degree canopy over the bowl to protect fans and players from the elements – reduces light and noise from spilling into the neighborhood, while creating an intimate and intimidating home pitch atmosphere

quote:

LED lighting throughout

quote:

Street level exterior materials of native Minnesota limestone, complementary burnished block, and glass

quote:

Intimate seating – furthest distance from spectator to the pitch is 125 feet

quote:

RK Midway, the owner of the 25-acres adjacent to the former bus barn property owned by the Metropolitan Council, unveiled redevelopment plans for the surrounding area that take advantage of the stadium. Plans include an urban mixed-use village that will include a multitude of use, including retail, office, residential, hospitality, entertainment (cinema, health club, bowling, dance, etc.) and food and beverage.

“We have waited years for the right time to redevelop this area into a more vibrant and livable community,” said Richard Birdoff, owner of RK Midway. “Today we are finally able to share our vision for the future and are excited to see it moving forward.”

That rendering is awesome. Minny/St Paul is one of the best places in the country to live. The winters do suck and I have been there for a week in February, so I know.

Highly educated population, very clean, tons of outdoor activity, great restaurant/bar scene.

I keep holding off on this on the chance one day I live in a city with an MLS team, it's getting tougher though...

The biggest issue i have with MLS is that the business end of the schedule conflicts with when football really starts heating up. What would be perfect would be the MLS Cup final being played on like week 2 or 3 of the NFL pre-season.

Minnesota highly educated? The state that elected Jesse Ventura and Al Franken?

Minnesotans are in fact highly educated. But they are also quirky.

I blame it on being adjacent to Canada.

Don't they have underground tunnels so you don't have to walk on the street?

I've had a layover there before. I could see downtown from the airport and it seemed like a place I would want to visit. My ex's brother lived there but I never had the chance to take the trip.

I hear Minnesota is awesome. I've never been there and I would move there right now.

I'd love to go in July or August out in a cabin or something like that.

Went to UM for grad school. Wonderful place. Interesting growing up near Mississippi River then later in life moving over thousand miles away and still being near banks of Mississippi River.

Winters are brutal, hard core, penis shriveling up into your body cold though. I thought I had an idea of how cold...but I had no idea.
