Inspired by a post from Coon in MSB:

quote:

Since I don't know about the epl, tell me about the teams so I can pick a team to root for.

Who's the Yankees/lakers/cowboys? (Polarizing)
Who's the packers/redsox? (Traditional powers that have found renewed success)
Who's the cubs? (Lovable losers)
Who's the royals? (Losers)
Who's ole miss? (Think they're good but they're not)
Etc...

And if you don't mind, running the same scenario for MLS. I am moving to Colorado next month, so I need to know ahead of time if they are the league dooshers. Thanks y'all.

You in the Navy?

I answered on the MSB. There's been a bunch of these threads. The best advice you'll get is to watch games and whichever team you enjoy watching the most, choose them.

And gotcha on that 'just watch them', appreciated.

It's easy to get behind a team if they have Americans on their squad but no one wants to support Stoke City. They may change their style now without Pulis though.

I don't watch that much PL so I can't give you the best advice

Along with watching, this board seems a great tool for beginning to follow the EPL.

I honestly only watched Italian football with any frequency until I started visited this board. The amount of insightful and enjoyable posters here for most of the bigger EPL sides always peaks my interest.

Good info, fellas. Any reason to hate Colorado Rapids, if you are not a Salt Lake fan?

Not at all. Very fun team to watch. Got some great young talent that has made them contenders this season.

Alright, looks like I'm going for Colorado as my first ever soccer team. When I conduct my first press conference, I'll name drop all of you

Hate 'em or Hate 'em: Manchester United, Chelsea
Historic Powers that have fallen off: Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton
Nouveau Riche: Manchester City
Historically Good but never great: Aston Villa, Tottenham, Newcastle

The Rest:

Stoke: used to play a dirty brand of football, but a new manager will probably end up bringing attractive football

Hull City: Yo Yo club... they go up, they come down, rinse repeat

Cardiff, Crystal Palace: CP has a history in the Prem before it was the prem and they have cheerleaders. Cardiff are just some welsh fricks.

West Ham: if you like thuggery and boring football

Sunderland: they stay in the Prem but are often quite boring

West Brom: have some good young players and play an attractive brand of football but no one really pay attention to them until they take 3 at your house.

Southampton: fun little team, but nothing special

Swansea: attractive football, they find steals and bring in quality players for cheap...

Norwich City: fricking farmers, boring football and robbed Leeds United blind of our entire midfield and a striker.

Fulham: boring football, unexciting players, but somehow they stay up.

You got it.

But that Olde English D in my avatar overrides any kind of Colorado rub, so don't expect any love for the sorry arse Avalanche.

Hey, I was born in Detroit so I've got no problem with that.
