It's the fact that they are passing it off as some awesome new service, and the fact that we have all been getting this service as part of our cable subscription is what makes it suck.

it sucks for us but is a brilliant move by NBC as a whole. They found a way to create new revenue w/ something they already had. I can't blame them for that.

Will they actually be reducing the amount of PL matches televised on their existing cable channels?

I don't believe so, instead they just aren't making the games that are televised available on this streaming app. So you can't 'cord cut' and receive the same games as people who pay for cable.

quote:

The 250 Premier League games that will be airing on NBC’s TV outlets will not be available for live streaming with the Premier League Pass, meaning that for their $50, cord-cutters are only getting just over one-third of the total games this season.

But, if you have cable and want to watch the games that aren't televised then you have to pay the $50 for the service it seems.

quote:

Those who haven’t cut the cord will now need to pony up the $50 to have access to all 380 games, as the games that were previously streamed only on NBC Extra Time will transition to the Premier League Pass service.

IMO, I'll keep cable and not pay the $50 and for any matches I wish to watch I'll likely just use r/footballdownload and catch them once the replays are posted there.

Sorry if already answered but on UVerse it has extra channels that show the other games. Am I going to have to pay for those now or will that be included in my UVerse?

Sounds like if a game is on a nbc family network, youre cable subsribtion will carry those.

Its the games featured solely online or on the app, the Extra Time games that use different broadcast graphics, that will require the new package.

The rub is that you will need a cable package that carries or allows you app access to all nbc channles AND the $50 package for the old Extra Time games to be able to watch every match.

My guess is that some will, some won't. Maybe they'll be able to fit all the "free" (with cable) games on real channels now. But it sounds like they'll likely some good games to the pay package (just to make you buy it), so I'm not sure whether the lower profile games on the "free" lineup will all go on USA/NBC/NBCSN/etc. or not.

My question is if I pay the 50 to get every game, do I have to stream some or will I still be able to pull up the alternates on Uverse? Sort of like Sunday Ticket or any other sports pass, where you can buy through your provider and watch through the guide. I'm not happy about the change, but that would be better than having to switch between streaming and cable.

Sounds like the extra time channels are no more so you will have to switch. Now will the streamed games be available on demand after they air so I can watch after the fact? Either way this sucks. It benefits nobody (consumer wise). Saw an article that compared it to drug dealing - offer the first taste of the pure product for free then water it down and charge when the customer is hooked

This is bullshite. I cut the cord last year and I've relied on downloading matches for when I can't catch it live and streams for when I do. I'd be willing to start downloading a lot of games and giving people access to them considering how much bullshite this is. It isn't the money that's the problem, but the principal of it. If they gave me all the matches for a set price so I could watch when I wanted to, that would be ideal.

It's fricking bullshite, but I'll probably pay it, luckily I'm a cord cutter, but can typically catch all games that are broadcast using PS Vue or my Antenna

Nickle and diming people isn't brilliant. It's what has caused so many people to say "frick it, I'm stealing the content." They are just going to cause more people to abandon their cable packages and use illegal streams.

The NBC/Premier League contract was for six years for $1Billion. I believe there is five years left on that contract.

BT Sport and Sky paid £5 billion for a contract from 2016-19.

NBC knows they are going to have to pay out the arse to keep the coverage when it comes up for bidding once again. I don't blame them at all.

Acestream

r/SoccerStreams

r/FootballDownload

r/SoccerDownloadClub

I'll pay the $50, assuming there's an On Demand feature, but these are always options.

The shittiest part is they are guaranteeing every team has at least 3 games exclusively on the app. So even if you're a fan of the big teams that are on tv weekly, they are hoping you shell out $50 just to get the 3 games that are not on tv.

it's the live streaming aspect that really pisses me off. if the streaming matches are only available live, and there isn't a replay feature like with watchespn, they won't get my money.
