he really is a magician

yesterday i was going to make a thread "what league would you want a young player to develop in" but then with the pulisic news the debate somewhat happened organically. but man how he improved when he went back to Germany is amazing. they are just playing and coaching the modern game at such a high level right now over there

i think i put italy #2, esp for central midfielders/defenders, b/c of their tactical game and the discipline they teach

Sometimes Eredivisie inflates strikers/fowards goals and stats to a level that makes adjusting difficult. Unless you're Suarez.

Eredivisie is relative crap these days. PSV and Ajax included. Recent trend has been good goalscorer in Holland doesn't translate. Janssen latest to try but sample size is all of 1 season at AZ.

Some of the better goal scorers of this past decade came up through Ajax

WestHam trying to make this interesting. City need to keep a freaking clean sheet in the league for once. They've been sloppier this half with the ball and not as clinical in the final third.

Suarez was probably the last big time goal scorer to develop in the Eredivisie... seems like the last few haven't panned out..

Bony scored big there before Swansea and did will there, too.. he was already 22 when he went to Vitesse

RB has been the better team. Werner and Poulsen have had several chances.

Sule looks solid for Hoffenheim.

Süle is going to be a beast for like 10 years. He's the CB I wanted for Bayern before the Hummels stuff started

Long gone are the RvN, RvP, Suarez (and the like) days. Memphis, Clasie, van Ginkel, Jozy, etc all recent big signings that have underwhelmed or flamed out completely. Wijnaldum has his brilliant moments but is flaky AF. Blind has been ok along with Tadic. Obv not all strikers but point is the same.

Eredivisie historical reputation is blinding some people I think.
