Damn what an awesome day. Nothing beats the world cup. And for all the talk of how the first match teams play more conservative we had 11 goals in 3 matches (which shouldve been 13)

I think teams understand more now than ever before that u need to get 3 points whenever u have a chance

Solid idea. Maybe we can start a general discussion thread before the first game/matchday

Be interesting to see if/what del Bosque ends up changing anything/changing

I was really impressed with Holland and Australia. Very underwhelmed by Cameroon. Spain just ruined my whole day.

I wonder if he will start Torres next match. Or if he'll stick with Diego. Also, maybe it's time to give the reigns to De Gea an that hurts my heart to say.

The only game I didn't watch was the Mexico game, so today was awesome.

Chile will struggle against Spain. Can't go up the middle on them, especially if Arturo Vidal isn't himself.

Spain will use a false 9 with Cesc up top if I had to guess assuming Costa is suspended.

The Netherlands didn't deal with him well, even if he didn't look incredibly sharp. If he's available, would be surprised if del Bosque didn't start him to at least see if he could bully Medel's crazy arse and that other guy

When do you think they'll announce that? He should be for that POS move. I wish they had Negrado. And te other Fernando, but that's just because I like him. They've rarely used him even when he was on the team.

What would be really smart or del Bosque is if they went 4-4- fricking 2 and used the fact that chiles defenders are 5'9 and just gave Costa and Torres heading practice

torres is dogshit. del bosque would be insane to even play him again, much less start him. I'd guess they stick with costa or start cesc up top.

That's been his problem lately. He's just getting older and he'd been injured.

Torres looked like some cancer kid they let play against an 8th division team in the first round of the national cup.

I've thought that too. Isn't he, like, 24 though?! Or am I way off base?

I wouldn't have even brought Torres to Brazil. Wtf has he done the last few years?

He's 25. Although he has had a major injury, I only think he has had injury problems leading up to the tournament because he:

1. Throws himself into everything
and
2. Tried to come back too early from every little thing in the run-in, because he wanted to help Atletico

If Costa can play he should play. He will bully the frick out of Chile's incredibly awful defense.

Also, Pedro has to start.

The main thing I got out of today is that Chile is just not good. Vidal not being right/being out is huge. Tactically naive with tiny CB's is just a disaster.

Granted, no one really thought they had a chance of actually winning the World Cup, but they're an exciting team and kind of a hipster dark horse. They have no chance. We have a better chance of winning the World Cup than they do.
