I'm not very familiar with Gustavo, but United need someone to play farther up the field than Carrick will.

Manchester United are in talks with Everton over a deal for Marouane Fellaini, as David Moyes fears that his top midfield target, Cesc Fábregas of Barcelona, could prove out of reach. The Premier League champions are also interested in signing Leighton Baines from Everton and are considering whether to offer around £30m for the pair.

Does anyone else think this is a really low price for both of those guys?

Not REALLY low, but if two clubs bought them seperately, their total transfer fee would be around 35-40 in my opinion. Buying in bulk is always cheaper! Sam's club style!

Baines and Fellaini for 30 million is a steal.

not sure he and carrick pair well, personally. fellaini probably a little more so.

totally disagree. I think they'd be the best CM pairing in the entire EPL.

Carrick is so underrated on this board, it just absolutely blows my mind sometimes.

Baines is probably worth 30 himself.

as for recent LB valuations...clitchy was 7M pounds, contrao was 30M euros

felliani is worth at least 20M pounds

30M pounds for both is a steal

He's really underrated in general, i.e., not named to England's WC squad. He's in that second tier of DLP's that don't get nearly the recognition of Xavi and Pirlo.

If I remember correctly, he turned down the opportunity to join the england squad. He's had a tumultuous relationship with the FA, and used it as a chance to give them a big "up yours"

Well he straight said he didn't want to be a bit-part player, which he was, since he was never going to get the central role over Gerrard and Lampard, which is ridiculous in my opinion, seeing as Gerrard and Lampard are the same type of player, while Carrick is the classy passer who sets the tempo. Carrick is ridiculously underrated in England. The same thing happened with Scholes, Hoddle, Le Tissier and others, because none fit the prototype of an English CM.

Yep. England trying to force Lampard and Gerrard on the field at the same time never made much sense. In that scenario, Gerrard always has to play in a more defensive role, because Lampard, honestly, just isn't good enough in that regard.

Would have made a lot more sense to pair Carrick and Gerrard.

Yes, now onto getting our ridiculously low bid to Everton rejected. Probably multiple times

Just need to meet Fellaini's buyout clause, at least.

Baines would be a great buy, but he's not a necessary purchase. Fellaini, IMO, is.

No way. A LB won't be sold domestically for that much. When it comes down to it, the position simply isn't important enough.

I think Carrick's passing range works really well with Goose.
