I saw that was the prediction of how many would watch and it was apparently broadcast during the game. Haven't seen the official figures if they are actually compiled for every country.

I was trying to find the number of American viewers from yesterday's telecast, but was unsuccessful.

Anyone want to...

I also heard the "650 million people in 212 territories" statistic.. I interpreted that as it was broadcast to that many people, not actually watched. I could be wrong. But I mean, look at the populations, if every single person in England and USA watched it (which obviously didn't happen), it would barely be half of that number.

Well according to this site, looks like a little over 1 million people watched the match live on ESPN. That wouldn't count WatchESPN.com #s. That's not too bad for any middle of a weekday sporting event.

After some brief research, it was 575 and 211 two years ago (from a random BBC article). So, 650 has to be the availability

It was "beamed" to well over 2-3 billion people I am sure.

I am sure it was accessible in China and that is likely between 1-1.4 billion, India is over 1 billion, the current population of USA is 310 million, and the whole of Europe has over 700 million.

I took it to mean 650 million people were likely to tune in. Over 1 billion watched the World Cup final, so 650 million is very likely.

Also, 157 countries have 1,000,000 or more people, and 212 countries were able to watch the broadcast, so it must be more than 650 million available. Oh, and 83 countries have more than 10,000,000. So number of possible viewers >>>>>650,000,000

The 650m figure was homes, sorry

Annual premier league audience was 4.7bn in 2011. I would be shocked if 650m people tuned in to the Manchester derby on a weekday

It's a weekday in America, but a weeknight in Europe I can easily see 650m.

LOL do you?

You realize that Europe's population is like 750 million? That means 85% of Europe's population would have had to watch the match.

Yeah, if you ignore any contribution from other continents.
