Real Madrid has been linked to the same, as well as in Miami.

Interesting. I wonder how a relationship like this could work between an MLS club and EPL club.

This rumor floated around about 6 months ago. Perhaps it has legs. Supposedly the sheik is paying $100M for New York City.
I can't wait to start hating this team.
I really hope one day that the Cosmos make it into MLS. NYC, Cosmos, Red Bulls...what a competitive and exciting atmosphere.

Colorado and Arsenal have a partnership already. I believe Tottenham and San Jose do as well, but those are just academy things...I think.

yea, this rumor has been floating around City boards since early 2012. I hope it has legs. City has installed at least 10 fields across the US as charity projects

Right, but as you said, these are just partnerships between completely independent clubs. The common ownership here has me intrigued.
No doubt, NYCFC will don the sky blue.

You wonder if they could do some "free" transfers of younger guys to get them PT - or short term loans, etc.
Could be very interesting.

Would this risk making the MLS look like a farm system instead of a major competitor?

Baby steps. They're nowhere near being a Top 5 league right now. Producing more talent for the big European leagues is a great way to get worldwide attention at the present moment.
