Borini might've just won the Tyne and Wear Derby.

With baseball's (or any other American sports's) revenue sharing module, I doubt the prize pool is nearly as lucrative as say winning the Champions League. If FSG wanted to maximize revenue, they'd probably want it to get to game 7 for the gate receipts. That said, it would be a great year for LFC owners if the Sox can pull it off as LeBron won his back-to-back rings earlier this year. As I'm a Dodgers fan, I generally root for the NL (unless the Giants are in it) because the NL plays real baseball. I'll make an exception for this year.

the players get the majority of the payout. i'm not sure them winning the WS gives you much of an additional monetary boost from what you already have advancing this far in the playoffs. and it's unknown how much of that would actually go to Pool or the Red Sox and not FSG's pocket.

I guess I look at it more in the aspect of what winning the series will bring ($$$) you in marketing and branding. (In a somewhat local market)

Then if that extra money that usually isn't there is invested into a Liverpool (global market) what kind of returns would FSG get then by having a recent WS champion and a EPL club in the UCL ... it could mean big returns for the investment.

quote:

‘He now has a reputation for going down easily… He doesn’t get the rub of the green from officials, there’s absolutely no question.’
A further week, after a match against Stoke, his conviction had hardened: ‘There seems to be one set of rules for Luis and another set for everyone else… the vilification of Luis is both wrong and unfair.’
Three months later, the ‘vilified’ Suarez helpfully admitted he had in fact dived ‘because we were drawing at home and we needed anything to win it’.

quote:

In January this year, Suarez clearly handled before scoring in an FA Cup tie at Mansfield. Rodgers watched the damning replay, declined to criticise the cheating and concluded: ‘It’s not deliberate, as it’s pushed up and hit his hand. It’s up to the officials to decide. That’s why they get paid as officials.’

quote:

Then in March, Rodgers announced that Suarez had changed for the better as a player and a person. ‘This is a guy who is trying to turn around his life and adapt to the culture,’ he said.
A month later, the reformed character sunk his teeth into the Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic. Rodgers was ‘bitterly disappointed’, but not by the offence. ‘It’s the severity of the ban that has hurt most,’ he said. And he added: ‘If you look at South American players, they do whatever it takes to win. This is the way they have been brought up. To fight for their lives.’
