4 websites popped up today with news that we're negotiating to get Alonso back now that HM fell through. That reasoning doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but if he's willing to take a wage cut I'm down.

Same thing happened when we lost out on Sigurdsson. We may have matched the offer, but why would he choose LFC over BvB assuming all things are equal?

I wouldn't expect him to, but he's certainly blown our junk for the past month more than expected. You'd think he was a life long Liverpool fan considering how he's talked about us. Also, Donetsk has quoted him many times as saying of all of the potential suitors his choice would be Liverpool over them all.

Did we? I don't know. I was working at the Port and didn't follow much last summer because I was so busy. I know it seemed like we had him in the bag and he left Rogers out to dry.

If I remember correctly rumors surfaced that LFC and Tottenham had both offered the same amount. We all figured LFC was a lock because of his relationship with Rodgers + the publicity he put out there regarding their relationship. Tottenham signed him.
Don't know what we have to offer that Dortmund don't, but I imagine he will sign for them if all things are equal (despite his fanhood).

If I remember right they were offering him a good bit more in wages... Which is what we can do with HM...
Maybe its my red colored glasses, but I think there are many reasons to choose LFC over BvB... short term/next season looks good for them, but I got to imagine... Lewandowski, Bender, Hummels, Gondogan... maybe Subotic and Reus will all be gone soon.

Right but isn't their academy world class? I seem to remember a lot of talk about them having an army of players waiting in the wings. Maybe I got that confused with Bayern.
So even if those guys left they'd just reload in that situation.

Perhaps, but they are looking at Aubameyang, Eriksen, HM, Bernard and other players outside of their academy...
I think they have a good thing going, but they aren't Bayern Munich (not that y'all are saying there are)...
