I just got back from watching a great tournament all weekend in BR. I won't tell you which club my kids are a part of, but how do you soccer nuts rank the clubs and why?

I assume y'all played in the United Cup. We did, too. I wouldn't put too much stock into the results of one tournament to say "this club is better than that one". It depends on what team and birth year you are talking about as well as the coaches for those individual teams. Also, some teams had to play 2 games in the same day and the team they played in the second game only had to play one so they were fresher, etc.

Very subjective. Some age groups stronger than others for every club. This year in particular with the age bracket changes some clubs poached one age bracket and made another stronger.

Vast difference in the size of the pool of kids to draw from on a club by club basis.

There are classy and classless coaches at every organization.

There are talented and weak coaches at every organization.

I think that most of the large clubs do an ok job but all seem to have some amount of organizational issues. Regionally Louisiana is not well respected and lacks any US Development Academy teams so I would guess that the overall level of competition is a bit subpar compared with what is going on in states like Texas, Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas.

I am not going to say LA Fire is perfect, but Jesters are not on the same level. Jesters really only have decent competitive teams U13 and below at the moment.

Mandeville's club has been kicking arse the last few years.

I get it. My kids are at Mandeville and have played RPL etc so I get the competition level at that tournament.

While our club has some issues, the philosophy is on point IMO regarding u12 and under age groups. They make 2-3 even C1 teams, and, while competing to win, giving up results to the other clubs that form a top team at u10 in some cases.

U13 is a transition to one elite team and by U15 we're usually very successful.

I have respect for the Fire, BR, and Cajun is ok but diluted due to multiple clubs in that area. Fire seems to have an abundance of idiot coaches and parents though.

Whats the measurement of success?

Assuming how many kids get a college scholarship since that's what youth clubs fill parents heads with.

Out of the three Louisiana born pro players, two are from what is now the Fire and one is from Mandeville. DI college players from LA that I can think of are

Chase Rushing - UAB (Fire)
Nestor Peralta - Some Indiana school (Fire)
Mason Morise - Memphis (Fire)
Phil Hicks - UCF (Fire)
Andrew Malinich - NC State (Fire)
Roman Spicer - Temple (BRSC)
Rader Massey - N. Kentucky (CSC)
Maybe two or three more from MSC, CSC or BRSC

Girls side, where to begin. Majority are Fire or Mandeville alums.

Jesters can't even hold on to players past 13 years old, and there's a very big reason for that. Spartans FC is slowly but surely becoming a huge thorn in the Jesters side.

Baton Rouge SC has the highest numbers and are hands down top dog when it comes to being apart of soccer in every aspect in a metro area.

LA Fire just rides the success of their few decent teams and brag when they have a killer squad make noise in the region. (97 girls and 95 boys come to mind)

Mandeville SC always has a team or two that beats up on the Fire and BRSC. Girls teams are always strong

Cajun SC in Lafayette always produces some talented players. They're just a bunch of mamas boys and daddy's girls who never want to leave home.

Cabosa in Shreveport just had a girls team make noise in regionals and have produced their fair share of talent.

Little clubs like HTSA, Crossroads and Calcasieu every now and then have a team or two make some noise on a state level.

Yes, it's subjective but the numbers at least point you in a direction.
