CL Matchday 05.05.2015--- Juventus-Real Madrid, a Long-Running Battle

Identifying which club comes out on top in terms of the historic rivalry between Juventus and Real Madrid is something of a tall order.
The two sides have gone up against each other on 16 occasions over the course of 53 years, always in a Champions League showdown. While the Italians have prevailed in two semi-finals (1996 and 2003), the Spanish club won out in a final to clinch their Seventh title (1998).
Evenly-matched throughout, from the first (1961-1962), in black and white, where a play-off was required to decide the winner, to the most recent two-legged tie seen last season with victory going to 'Los Blancos' at the Bernabéu (2-1) and a draw in Turin (2-2).

I'm hoping Real advances and think it's likely but kind of hope that today ends closely enough that the second leg is dramatic.
I think Juve will mainly miss Pogba in terms of not having a substitute for Pirlo or any midfielder that tires since Marchisio is one of the more underrated midfielders around. If Pirlo or another midfielder needs to be subbed out, it could be decisive though.
This leg really depends on Juve not conceding a couple of goals and needing to press. Not going to be an easy task defending Real's speed which has been one of their weaknesses.

Juve need Pogba for this semi
He gives them a different look, and it puts less pressure on pirlo, and allows Vidal to get forward more and create.

They certainly need Pogba.
I still think they mainly need Pogba more in rotation to keep the back three midfielders fresh. Without him, it's the kid Sturaro that may have to play and that's where they face a big drop off.
Marchisio is a downgrade in terms of winning so many 50-50 midfield battles and just providing that athletic presence in the midfield but is a much better passer (involved in creating just as many goals) than Pogba so it's bit more of a blow defensively than in attack.

Actually I'm just seeing that Pereyra is out and Sturaro is starting.
I suppose that means Vidal may be in the trequartista role and, yes, Sturaro instead of Pogba is a huge blow to Juve.

the RM lineup is correct
Ancelotti going with ´El Cuadrado Mágico´ (Wanderlei Luxemburgo, anyone?).

I think I want a 2-1 Juve win but I know I don't want a 4-0 Madrid win and that's what I feel like is about to happen

Ancelotti has been jonesing for this opportunity since preseason last year

Raiola is probably taking it hardest that Pogba's out. .. some fine transfer fee gouging opportunities down the drain from his seat between the Juve and Real brass. . .

I don't think that he really needs to do anything. Florentino is the type of negotiator to ask if a service fee is already included in the transfer price

Se avivan los rumores de un posible fichaje de Pogba por el Real Madrid tras la visita de Mino Raiola al hotel de concentración de la plantilla blanca.
Spanish press reporting Raiola´s already been seen visiting Real´s hotel in Turín.

What are the predictions for today? I'll take a stab. 2-1 in favor of RM.

Sounds about right, though I'd love Juve to make things interesting for the last leg

Historia que tú hiciste,
historia por hacer
porque nadie resiste
tus ganas de vencer.
Ya salen las estrellas
mi viejo Chamartín
de lejos y de cerca
nos traes hasta aquí.
Llevo tu camiseta
pegada al corazón,
los días que tú juegas
son todo lo que soy.
Ya corre La Saeta,
ya ataca mi Madrid
soy lucha, soy belleza
el grito que aprendí.
Madrid,
Madrid,
Madrid
¡HALA MADRID!
y nada más,
y nada más
¡HALA MADRID!
Historia que tu hiciste.
