Apparently the new site is....... www.soccerstreams.online

Here is the message from a mod...

quote:

Hey guys,

Let me start off by saying that we are not completely shutting down. The essence of this sub-reddit and its best streamers will be moving over to a new home (soccerstreams.online) starting today, however, match threads will still be posted and streamers will be allowed to post their links in them.

You will also still be able to create match threads for matches not listed on the website.

I’m sure you all are wondering why this is happening so suddenly, but this has been brewing for a while and there are several reasons for it:

1. If you stream games regularly here, you will have noticed that an increasing number of streamers have been getting banned recently. Over the last few weeks, our jobs have become quite complicated to maintain the sub with Verified Streamers getting shadowbanned and blacklisted. With the new website, we’ll have more control over who stays and who goes.

2. We will have complete freedom over how we are able to design and run the website. Reddit is extremely limited in what it allows us to use (for example, we cannot use Javascript), so we have had to think of several workarounds over the years for the features we have implemented; some of which worked but others didn’t. Having a bot do multiple tasks per minute each day is a tough ask, especially through a free server, which is why the bot has been down so frequently. On the new website, this won’t be an issue at all.

3. Greater freedom means greater efficiency and greater control. This also means our job gets easier. We will no longer have to bother with post formats, while things like spam will be a lot easier to control and minimize.

4. Our moderators deserve some reward for the amount of time and energy they put into this sub. We have had an extremely difficult time finding people who are able to dedicate their time moderating. While many sign do up to become moderators, they quickly realize how much work goes in behind the scenes, which leads them to giving up the position. We dedicate almost our entire weekends to helping make good quality streams available for you; however, due to Reddit’s moderation TOS, we are unable to do so. While we are seeking to form legitimate commercial opportunities with streaming companies, the website will be kept ad-free and completely safe for use as it is our aim to operate as a not-for-profit organization.

The new website will function like this sub, and you will be able to do much of the same things like creating your own personal accounts and commenting on streams. We are extremely excited for you to try out your new website, and we are sure that you will come to love it as much as we do. A mobile version of the website is also in the works and will be available soon.

Important note: This sub-reddit will not be completely shutting down. It will continue operate as a backup for the website, and as a medium for you to communicate with us. However, as mentioned before, all the verified streamers will be moving to the website, and eventually along with them, the rest of the streamers will too.

Please enjoy the new website, and you may leave any feedback below.

Thanks and happy streaming!

And yet they still can't touch 2004-12 S's streaming capabilities.

Yeah, I haven't had to use soccerstreams in awhile, unless it is some weird arse game I can't find on Bein/Fox/NBC (Like when the City fan periscoped the FA tie a few weeks back lol).

But I used to use it a lot back in college, I'd be totally fricked if this was 3-4 years ago.

Am I missing something here?
Doesn't necessarily sound like a bad thing.

How old are you lol? I only ask because I feel like this kind of crime is well known now days lol.

Aside from the fact that networks will go after these people and waste no expense at catching them, shutting them down and then making their lives a living hell.....nothing is bad I guess.

Reddit is/was somewhat a human shield for the individuals who hosted those streams. You could put them all in one place and everyone cherry picked. Now lets say if NBC/EPL wanted to, they could call Reddit up and decide to sue the frick out of them for hosting all of those streams.

Well then you get into internet anonymity, freedom of speech, etc...bullshite..etc... and NBC is out a billion dollars and likely don't get anywhere.

But if it's five Tigerdroppings soccerbros who were computer science majors and think it would be a neat project, then you're going down likely within hours of hosting and paying some big arse fines.

And if that doesn't happen fast enough, then they're domain is going to get blitzed w/ takedown requests and if that is ignored, eventual ISP blocks by entire countries will be implemented. Happens a lot apparently in the UK and other countries (at least from what I've read). So you can't even access the sites if you don't use a VPN (a good one).

Now the one thing they've made clear is that they aren't going to have ads. That's the thing that usually gets these sites taken down, the gillion ads that pop up and it monetizes the site. This is typically what separates the sites that get taken down/charged/fined a billion dollars from the ones that are blocked in certain regions.

So I guess you aren't completely wrong about it possibly being a good thing, it's just very, very unlikely that a group of reddit mods are going to continue building this site and keep up with security upkeep/monetary requirements once traffic starts to roll in w/out all of the benefits that basically hosting on Reddit offered.

Couldn't they have waited until Newcastle had clinched promotion?
