Is Taylor Twellman the biggest MLS/USMNT homer?

There was a discussion about how the Championship was getting more viewers than MLS and he couldn't understand why. He went on to say that the Championship was not high quality soccer. The way he said it, he seemed like he thought MLS was way better. This is also a guy who has called Michael Bradley "world class". Him and Lalas seem to hype of MLS more so than the other soccer guys.

Twellman calls everything world class.

Not to sound like a dick, but you just named two guys that are former MLS/USMNT players. Of course they are going to be pretty biased.

Ya but other guys like Keller keep it real.

Fair enough. I guess I just hear a lot more of Twellman and Lalas than Keller.

His constant whining on head collisions is annoying.

He's not completely off base. The Championship below the big spending teams making a legitimate push for promotion features some dire kick-and-rush football in front of sparse crowds on horribly maintained pitches.
It also does not feature the star power of MLS in its current state.
While an average Championship squad is likely much better than that of an average MLS squad, there aren't any Championship starters matching the talent of Pirlo, Villa, Kaka etc.
In a two-leg tie between a mid-table Championship side and an average playoff-caliber MLS side say Real Salt Lake or NYRB, I would wager with MLS.
With time and a heightened salary cap, Twellman's qualms will be justified.

I don't believe that there are any MLS teams that could compete and gain promotion from the Championship.
MLS has star power based around some AGED Euro Stars finishing out their careers, but the average pedigree of player in the Championship is far superior to that of the MLS.

I don't think an MLS team could get promoted but I don't think MLS is as far off as you make it seem.

I do not think the Galaxy are that far away. Their starting 11 is pretty stacked.

Tell that to Toronto. Their best players are all below 30 and if they were allowed to spend more, I could only imagine what team they'd try to field.
While the big stars are mostly old, take a look at the top of the table. Most of the teams don't have that. Vancouver, DC, and Columbus don't have any big names at all.

The LA Galaxy after acquiring Dos Santos are a squad that could definitely gain promotion in the Championship

In a one off type match a top tier MLS team could hang with a mid table Championship team.
Over a whole season no way in hell any MLS team pushes for promotion. They just don't have the depth to hack it week in and week out.

no they couldn't
MLS teams don't have the depth. Their bench rotation is not good enough to make it through a season.

That's why I said what I said. Their lack of depth is the difference.

Congrats on making three posts in a row saying that MLS teams don't have depth. I think we get it now
