Excuse the ignorance of these two questions.

If there is a bad result in Copa America will there be whispers or actual calls for a change?

Also, is the remaking of American Soccer and its U Club system a success or failure if the results are not there?

Not from US Soccer.

It will take years before any of that starts to effect the national team.

I think failing to advance from the group stage will finally get the ball rolling. Particularly if we do what we always do. Play guys out of position and hoof it up top. Paraguay plays a more disciplined brand of the game than we do, so it could definitely happen.

So they are all in no matter what with Klinsmann?

Why are they (US Soccer) so, for a lack of a better word, tied to Klinsmann? I mean Sampson got run out quickly as did Bradley once the luster wore off.

We could lose every game and I'm convinced nothing will happen to Klinsmann. Gulati will not admit that he fricked up this hire.

ETA: to answer the above question, Klinsmann is the first coach to also be technical director as well. He also is getting paid about 4x what Bradley was paid. To cancel his contract would cost a pretty penny and look bad on Gulati. In my opinion, Klinsmann should have been appointed technical director and nothing more.

We have a tough group. We would have to finish last in our group in order to get anything rolling.

Jurgen has a much higher buyout than either of those guys had. Jurgen was always Gulati's man, so he not going to pull the plug so quickly.

By most accounts, the changes to the youth system seem to be good ideas and are working.

He's signed through the 2018 World Cup cycle... so that long.

Well his mandated changes to youth club soccer don't even go into full effect until this summer (birth year team formation, field sizes, number of players on field, etc). What changes to youth system are you referring to and what is working? (not disagreeing with, I assume you're talking about the actual academy programs or whatever so I'm interested).

If we finish last without any points I think that gets the ball moving.

If we get any result I think he's fine.

Sorry to bump this thread, but had another question.

Is Klinsmann also in charge of or have any say about who plays for the Olympic team? Or is he just the Manager for the Sr National Team?

The one that should have qualified but did not. That is part of the reason I asked a couple more questions. Even though they did not qualify they still have an Olympic team, correct? USA Baseball had one when it did not qualify the year they used Roger Clemens.
