Giroud is very hot and cold too. He will go 10 games with a goal for Arsenal and 10 without. He's consistently inconsistent if that makes sense.

He is very good. Gets more hate than he deserves on this board and others. He is a bit of a lightning rod for Arsenal fans as when he scored we do well, but when he doesn't we struggle.

Also, he's a 4-4-2 forward but Ozil doesn't fit in that system. Maybe with Xhaka we can play a diamond or 4-1-3-2 with Alexis partnered. (it's basically what Arsenal play when Ramsey is on the right, he tucks in to form another midfielder, and Bellerin pushes up).

I love Giroud, I'd like to see him not go down so easy for a guy his size. there aren't many better traditional CF than him.

He's actually been consistent just looking at his goal tallies. Not enough other people picking up the slack. We all creamed when rvp and Walcott scored 20 goals, yet when Giroud does it every season he sucks.

Or Bale getting put up for sale.

I couldn't figure out who Bale reminded me of while watching this Welsh team. Then you mentioned Henry, and it all made sense again. Bale is basically a left-footed Thierry Henry. (Obviously these comparisons refer to prime Henry). The similarities are pretty uncanny. They are both track-stars with incredible touch. They have very similar finishing styles--nobody is better at finding the far post than Bale and Henry. They run the channels better than anyone in their respective generations. And they don't mind dropping deep to retrieve the ball when the opposition is pressing the defense. Henry was more prolific in his prime, but played on a relatively weaker team (The Invincibles notwithstanding) that needed his goalscoring much more.

I'm always frustrated watching Bale for Madrid, because (rightfully and irritatingly) every attacking move must go through Ronaldo. Besides occasionally switching wings, Bale doesn't have as much freedom to operate with Real, as he does with the Welsh team.

There isn't a player on the market that really has what we need. We basically need Thierry Henry again, a player who can create their own goal, play with their back toward goal, and link play. There isn't even an Adebayor-lite in this market at the moment.

Morata may be the closest of anyone who may be actually for sale and somewhat proven. That's pretty much the description of what he did for Juve whenever teamed with a Giroud type #9 (until Dybala took that role).

Such a random assertion. Not to nit pick but I don't think Bale is greatest in his generation at anything yet, especially considering Cristiano, Neymar, Suarez, Messi would all be in my team above Bale if width was critical.

He will be what he always will be. A fantastic target striker who will fluff lots of good chances, chances which were occasionally made by his good play to begin with. He doesn't suit Ozil though, nor is he the super striker Arsenal needs.

Basically this. Also, at times he plays like hes 5'4 and not 6'4. It's incredibly frustrating to see him go to ground so easily in the PL, because 90 percent of the time he doesn't get the ball and Arsenal just lose possession.

His goal tallies are good. I can't knock him on that. It's his inconsistency that's killer, especially against top of the table teams. His record playing against the top four/ManU/Chelsea is just abysmal.

He is. Have you watched the Euros? He's played better than Hazard, De Bruyne, Muller, etc.

He's playing well in the Euros. I guess he was due an uptick in form after going 3 months without a goal during the second half of last season. I like Giroud alright but there is a reason that we have tried signing a striker for the last 4 summers.

I agree, and would like an elite striker who fits our needs (if one were available). But to say he's not very good, when getting perfect 10 ratings at the euros and scoring 20 goals a season for Arsenal, is just silly.

Except for the past 2 seasons, well maybe not Chelsea (no one has been good against them).

Maybe there lies the problem. Not willing to fork out the cash, and really the only guy we've been on that has shown he is better than Giroud consistently for his club is higauin.

Maybe the issue is you aren't getting goals from your center mids and from the rt side of the midfield. We need this Ramsey back, problem is Wenger. He isn't being used correctly and it's hard when you have ozil, but Wenger has to figure out how to put his players in better positions instead of forcing them into a spot in the line up.

Find better combos against diff teams. Maybe use ozil as a false nine and let Ramsey play in behind him.

I'd like to see the multiple matches he's gotten perfect 10 ratings in

And, sure, he's scored goals at the Euros. However, he's squandered so many chances. I've never seen a striker get so much service and convert at such a poor rate. I know he can be lethal when he's inform. But when Giroud is bad, he's just comically bad.

Not what I was implying. Only one other player has gotten a rating of 10 from whoscored at the Euros (Hazard).

Can't really argue with this. Our conversion rate this year was awful. Ozil would have broken Henry's assist record if our conversion rate wasn't like 4%

How do you get Xhaka, Cazorla, Ramsey, and Ozil on the field together and all in their natural positions? Play a diamond midfield?
