How are official goal times recorded?

Dempsey's shot cross the goal line at 30 seconds. He was in the corner fist pumping at 34 seconds.

IT will more than likely be changed.


And it's kept by the head referee. Hence the "stoppage time".

It is based entirely on the ref's watch. All other times are unofficial.

I doubt it took espn 4 seconds to start the clock after the first touch. You only start the clock twice. Both in obvious spots.
