Jose speaks after the USA-Portugal match

Thinks MB should be in a top club in Europe.
So evidently he did some things in that game that were very good if one has eyes to see.

After a couple of days, the truth seems to be coming down to this (correct me if I'm wrong): MB is a box-to-box guy that isn't at his best in the front of a diamond but had a better game against Portugal, did a ton of work to keep us in that game, and unfortunately messed up 2 chances and had a very damaging giveaway at the end.

I don't know if he can maintain a high level of play against the competition in MLS, but I think he's going to be one of the best defensive midfielders in the 2018 WC. Let's just hope a real #10 has emerged by then.

Michael Bradley is an amazing ball winner. I've never liked him at the 10. Wish we had a solid 10. He's a box to box guy, I agree.

It's painfully obvious that MB is better in the box to box role. But Jermaine and Beckerman are playing too well to change everything up. It's up to Bradley to evolve for a little while.

And anyone saying he's not good has no idea what they're talking about

He was part of a midfield that dominated that game against a good Portugal team. that alone signifies to me that he should be in europe.

I don't think that advanced role is his natural spot but he still does fine there

This. But, sadly, we dont have anyone else that we trust at that spot for the full 90. I wouldnt mind seeing Mix come in as a sub and let Bradey drop back for Beckerman / Jones in the 2nd half, if we wanted to go with a more offensive approach.

Oh... and The Chosen One

Jones and Dreads have played better than anyone could have hoped for, but I can't help thinking if we should take out Jones, let MB play the position he's more comfortable with, and let Mix play the 10.

Id take him in a heartbeat at united would be a perfect replacement for Carrick.

It could be happening him regressing due to level of play preparing him vs higher level internationals and not CONCACAF. Klins was none too happy about the move. But dude is getting paid more than he would in Europe and he wanted and felt like he was ready the focal point of a team finally.

No one is saying a bad word about him if he just kicked the ball 40 yards forward in the 95th minute and reset the team on D so one of the best players in the world didn't have a chance to streak up the sideline

I think it's a result of physical and mental exhaustion from being asked to do so much.

Do guys in his current position often log the most miles in a match?

I hope that Mix impressed enough in camp that if we need a goal he can come in for Beckerman and let Bradley go back to his normal role.

Same here... if we continue to run the diamond, I'd take him to play opposite Henderson and be a runner/b2b in front of Gerrard... I'd prefer him to Lucas and Allen

I don't think he has the skillset to play at the tip of a diamond at a big club.. other guys can do it better..

Jones has been one of the best players in the entire tournament. Why would we even dream of taking him off the field?

I dont think he was saying we should do that.

I think he was just saying that if we were to put someone else at the #10 spot and let Bradley drop back to his natural defensive mid, it would be Mix in for either Jones or Beckerman. That would give us a more offensive approach and still be strong defensively with Bradley dropping back.

Bradley is such an old 26 year old in terms of his career so far. Toronto is is 7th team and he's played in 5 different leagues. He's got a family now and he seems very happy. I would love to see him continually challenge himself in Europe but you can't fault him. He's done a lot for the sport but he's reevaluating his life and putting some things in perspective and Toronto is where he wants to be right now.

I agree that Jones has been fantastic, but Bradley always looks more comfortable in that box to box role. I'm just throwing ideas out there. If we were to move MB back, I would take out Jones instead of Dreads because Jones wouldn't be content to stay back all game. Mix is more comfortable in that AM role. Jones had a fantastic goal, but I still feel that Mix/MB offer more going forward than Jones/MB.

I don't think you move him at the expense of either of those guys. He had a very good game outside of a mistake at the end.

Look, you're irrational hate for Jones is well documented on this board. We get it.

That said, you should be banned for such a stupid comment.

Yea. Except that option isn't any better. In fact, it's WORSE than what MB tried (and failed) to do. He didn't have it in a dangerous area. You keep possession in the dying seconds. This isn't YMCA ball.

I think he's a good player, he's just had a few bad games in a row (Turkey, Ghana, Portugal-he was better here) and one colossal mistake that cost us advancing.
