I am trying hard to find one. I don't think even Real Madrid and Benitez equalizes because, well, its Real. LVG and ManU have been trying to make a flawed relationship work for years now. Its time to end it before the star of this club fades away more.

Now bring on the Portuguese lol.

Somehow I feel like Jose would be just as bad longterm. I feel like I'm just getting to the point where I'm actually learning some history of the game, but isn't Mou pretty much the antithesis of what Man United have previously been about? Or is it just such an arms race that it doesn't matter anymore?

It will be interesting to see.

Perhaps they should go after another pompous arbiter of character from the north such as Brendan Rodgers.

He absolutely is.

The question still remaining to be answered is are they now desperate enough to eat their own previous ideas of the ManU way.

Personally, I would like to see Jose at Marseille.

Would never happen, but man that would be great. The trolling of PSG would be epic.

It is a difficult choice.

Do you go with the quiet, stick your nose up and look down on everyone else hypocritical snobbery that Brendan Rodgers offers?

Or do you go with the Trump-like bombastic, petulant, in your face snobbery that Jose provides so well?

I do too, I just think OM's ownership and board is too cheap/incompetent to pull it off.

I unfortunately concur.

A shame as those supporters deserve better.

Or maybe the question to ask is whether Mourinho would be willing to adapt some of his methods to fall more in line with the United way? If he wants the job, he might have to show he's willing to conform to different standards.

Why would he need to conform to different standards? And what standards are those? The only offensive philosophy he's going to espouse is counter-attacking at pace. He's never deviated. If he didn't deviate from this philosophy at Real Madrid, why wouldn't he suddenly decide that he should with Man U?

It's fairly clear that the much touted "United way" was more "Fergie's way." At one point in time, "Arsenal's way" was to defend deep and win 1-0. Then Wenger came and it was completely different. Styles change with different managers regardless of the club, no matter how big or small.

I'm pretty sure Man U will accept winning at all costs, as their recent transactions and moves suggest. If they go with Mourinho, they know what they are getting.

Rafa Benitez managed Chelsea so the answer to the OP is a resounding "yes."
