Nah, it was before Roma-Napoli last season. The "kid" killed was a 27yo Napoli Ultra who was shot during a meeting between ultras to fight each other where an infamous Roma nutcase ultra was jumped and pulled a gun and started shooting.

There's been the usual polemics back and forth ever since: Dead ultra becomes innocent martyr. Mother is "handled" by a team of lawyers that are Napoli supporters and fan the flames.
Roma ultras that live for this type of back and forth continually respond with inflammatory statements/banners. . .

FIGC steps in occasionally with random, inconsistent punishments that make the lunatic fringe of both sides feel unfairly targeted.

Napoli lawyers cry out for "peace" by demanding Roma face a points deduction and retribution payments to them for the idiots' banners. . .

etc etc etc. . .

wm72 will have to confirm, but there might be a couple of areas to avoid outside of the Olimpico on a derby day (I had an Italian teacher say ultras will gather by a nearby Mussolini obelisk).

You should be fine though.

Yeah, you'll be fine. As I'd said before just don't rush into some huge groups that obviously look like trouble. The vast majority of people going back and forth will just be regular fans.

If you want to avoid all hassle I'd not wear advertise Roma gear all around the city before and after the match but that's less for serious "ultras" danger and more that you don't attract drunken idiots who think they're bad asses starting shite more like at an away SEC football game.
